Folks,

Has anyone heard of a passport number that has been issued to a person but was recalled later on (because of the same passport number was issued previously to someoneelse ) to be corrected by the State Department ? Does this "passport number correction" screw up our file when I send the updated information to USCIS since the copy of my passport was the part of our I-130 package ? I have never heard someone else' passport are recalled because of same number is issued twice. I am just worrying about any addendum/correction sent to USCIS might delay the process time of that file even though this is not our fault !

Thanks

The letter came in mail and passport agency's phone number is given on the letter. The phone number shown on the letter is same as Passport Agency's phone number on their website. The letter is basically asking for the passport to be returned to the given address labeled on the UPS envelope came with the letter then they will cancel it and issue another passport with an unused number. I am little bit skeptical about this because I havent heard such a thing from anyone before and hope it is not going to effect our file.

I would DEFINITELY call the number on this page http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/npic/npic_898.html

and ask if they know anything about it and see if they can look up your passport number.

That sounds super weird and suspicious since there are no news updates about that on their website.
