I realized yesterday afternoon that my wedding rings weren't on my finger.

I take them off a lot if I get my hands wet because it bothers me the way they feel sticking to my damp finger.

I immediately looked all over my desk (that's where I take them off after I wash my hands in the bathroom) but found nothing.

Ran to the bathroom (I take them off there when using hair products), but nothing.

Looked on the coffee table.

Looked on the kitchen counter (take them off when cooking).

Looked on my nightstand.

I even looked in the bed and around the bed because I've lost a lot of weight and sometimes they're falling off.

Still nothing!

Then I have this little flash of remembering I didn't have them on on Sunday night.

Which basically makes me think I threw them away accidentally while cleaning off the counter after making stew.

There were so many ingredients everywhere I could have just scooped 'em right up.

My husband found me crying in the bathroom and his response?

"We'll just buy you some new ones"

The engagement ring was given to him from him mom and was hers when she was married to my husband's dad.

I feel terrible for losing something like that but my husband would not let me keep looking and said he would look today.

Saving grace? I haven't thrown the garbage out yet... someone want to dig through my trash for me? :(

I've searched the garbage for a lighter and I mean not my house garbage. I went out in the dumpster and looked in a lot of bags for a LIGHTER! Put some gloves on, maybe cut a couple of garbage bags open to use as sheets for the floor and look for the ring. I know how you feel, it's horrible when you lose something that have affective value> My mother in law gave me her engagement ring too. Just keep looking for your rings, you might find them where you don't expect them to be! My mom always says "the house hides but never steals"...unless you have cats but that's another story.

Hope you find them and don't feel too bad if you can't, this kind of stuff happens all the time to everyone.

GOOD LUCK!

Check the pockets of the clothes you were wearing since the last time you remember wearing the ring. I do the same thing all the time when I go to wash my hands. I already lost one ring for good in the community laundry room of our apartments. Then this last week I lost my ring again but I remembered to check my pockets and found it this morning.

Dumpster diving anyone!?!?!?!

On a serious note, these incidents are little reminders that we own nothing. We are only temporary keepers of our possessions. Having said that, I hope you find it!

They're not in my pockets.

I checked last night, even though I'm pretty sure I would hear jingling rings in my pajama pants

You're a girl?

Or you lost your men's wedding band?

I can't get my husband to wear his ring.

And I went through buying THREE of them! NO JOKE!

He decided he just didn't like wearing a ring so I just carry the latest one in my purse -_-

God this is driving me nuts. I consistently twirl them around my fingers all day so I keep trying to do it and there's nothing theeeerrre.

As long as they don't smell, no judgement here.

Oh dear! My ex husband wouldn't wear one either.

I actually had my current husband wear an engagement band. He never ever takes off his wedding ring. I tried to bribe it off him the other day and he was like "You told me to never take if off, never means never". In my opinion, since he has switched it to the right hand when we were married (which is standard in DK) it is kind of tight and not easy to get off and that is the real reason it never comes off.

No, I don't smell at all.

Seeing as I don't do much, hard to sweat much.

Plus I kind of do the opposite of the purpose of my pajamas.

I wear them all day, and take them off at night, because that's when I DO sweat lol.

My husband hates that I put a fan on us in the winter. I get too hot =[

Oh no! What a horrible feeling, hope you find it!

Makes me glad my ring is so firm, I can't take it off- they even had to tape it to cover when I had my c-section. My husband wears his too btw, all the time- ours are a fat platinum band with thin gold band top and bottom, and etched in Hebrew on the platinum "I have found the one to whom my soul belongs" (Song of Solomon 3:4). No stones or anything that can get stuck.

I was about 25lbs heavier when we got married and I ended up exchanging my wedding band THREE TIMES because it always felt so tight.

Now it won't stay on at all. The engagement ring is the only thing that barely holds it on.

Now that it's winter and my finger size is contracting, they both occasionally fall off when digging in my purse or something lol

This statement quoted above is what applies to me.

Well I think it's very sweet that you cared about that.

I only have my husband's experience to pull from and, like I said, he won't wear his.

I don't think he could tell me where any of his 3 wedding bands are

Oh no, that's the worst feeling in the world! I take mine off all the time too because I have pretty sensitive skin so I don't want to risk leaving soap under the ring and having my skin act up. Needless to say, I've had my fair share of ring-related near heart attacks. Thankfully I haven't lost mine yet (and now I've probably just jinxed myself! )

I now pretty much only wear mine when we are out, otherwise, it sits in a little ornamental dipping dish on the kitchen counter. I take it off before washing my hands when we get home. This has definitely decreased the amount of time I have spent looking for my ring!

I hope you find yours soon!

When I got married, we were pretty much dirt poor, so we just got a set of stainless steel wedding bands (yes, they make them). Luckily they were relatively cheap, because I left it on my desk in my apartment one day and then could never find it again. I get some sort of satisfaction knowing that whatever maintenence guy stole it will be sorely disappointed when he finds out it's worthless.

For a while afterward, I wore a $10 sterling silver Claddagh ring I got at a street fair. It had a depression in the metal on the back to save on material cost, and something got stuck in there one day and left me with a nasty chemical burn on my finger.

I then spent a long time not wearing one, but then remembered my husband once mentioning that he thought a wooden ring would look nice. I found instructions online how to make some with wood veneer and superglue (classy!). So I've made us a set out of maple wood (since we got married in Canada). They actually look really nice, the superglue makes them really shiny, and the wood grain is really pretty. Just waiting to surprise him with his the next time we meet up...

That sounds cool, do you still have the instructions? Would love to try that myself.
