Today I'm going to a fiance party for my future SIL...via webcam. They asked my fiance if he would play the music and he said sure! He is taking his computer downstairs to where the party will be and setting up his webcam so that I will be 'with' him watching the party and chatting while he plays the music. :luv:

So I'm all excited...I've showered, I'm doing my finger/toenails, make-up, hair, plucked my eyebrows, I even shaved my legs and masked. Is this all a bit much? I'll be wearing my red dress (he REALLY needs to get me another color-so I have pictures in TWO dresses  ).

I little ditty about this party...His family was visited about 2 months ago by some friends (they brought the WHOLE family). The next day, one of the son's told his parents that he wanted to marry one of my fiance's sisters. They called my fiance's family and his sister agreed! Now 2 months later, they are having a fiance party! When I was there several months back, his family got a call from relatives in Italy and they had watched a video of one of my fiance's sisters fiance party, and one of the girls saw my fiance's brother and wanted to marry him. So they called my fiance's family and after my future BIL talked to and saw this girl on webcam, he said he wasn't interested. I can't quite wrap my mind around this at all!!!!! But I have to say it is very very interesting to witness!

The way they do things there is so different, isn't it? My husband friend decided he wanted to marry my husbands cousi. She accepted, but it seems so odd to me that you don't get to know each other first. But hey, different strokes for different folks I guess.

I did find it interesting that the girl asked about the fiance's brother. I have never heard it done the other way around. Of course, I haven't seen enough of their culture to know if this is common.

Im working, bah humbug

Tonight Ahmed and I will be gathering the last of our evidence for his interview and getting in some last-minute study time. Monday is the big day! I cant beleive its almost here! :)

I am wishying the best for your interview! Keep us posted.

Woke up early, had a leisurely morning, did laundry, paid the rent, went grocery shopping, gassed up the dork mobile, made lunch and cookies with my youngest son and now are watching Angels in the Outfield. I am procrastinating and avoiding the housework, but there's always later or tomorrow morning. I bought the ingredients to make beef noodle soup and I'll either do that tonight or tomorrow. A nice hardy nap in the afternoon would rock to day too...

I asked my fiance if that was 'normal'. He laughed and said noooooooooooo. The whole family was giving his brother a hard time and joking with him about it. My fiance's take on this was that she must really be desperate to find someone to marry. The whole day his sisters and mother were doing the 'yo oh yo oh yo oh' (ok that doesn't describe it at all...the sound the women make with their tongues). Does that have a name?!

It sounds more like "la la la la la la la" to me but it's called zaghareed in formal Arabic. :star:

ETA: I think it's called ululating in English.

Not a good saturday for me. :( My husband WAS suppose to meet me online. After waiting for 20 minutes I called him and he told me that he was at his cousins house. I think he told me he was going to spend the night there. I am so upset. He could have called me to let me know his plans had changed today or left me an email. I feel like he gave no thought to me. I could still have been sleeping since I work nights. But, I wake up early for him and get ready for work early. Since I can't talk to him I guess I will just stay on visajourney for awhile.

I didn't think it was normal for their culture, but my husband tells me all the time of his friends adventures. It appears that the women there are very forward...lol

We also have trilling in native ameican tribes that the women do during pow wows. I wanted my husband to hear and see what his reaction would be. He was pretty surprised and ask they do the zaghrouta here and i said yep. :)

I can't do it.

It's in the mail, sans mayonnaise for obvious reasons!
