Aaron,

he's from Nigeria.

I'm sure he knows more about fraud then all of us combined.

Just sayin'.

Wanted to act like I didn't see this post and not reply you but............but readers can learn one or two things from this. (I know this is immigration and visa forum but I can;t just do with replying this )

Just bcos there are high level of crime in California where you live doesn't make you a criminal? Not all Nigerians are fraudsters and we are all diff, plus you can't even write one page history about Nigeria just a stereotype. I asked the question ofcos because I don't know which way. I'm a Network Engineer and I can proudly say I've never come close to fraud. Every country has its negative, i'm neither proud of it nor happy about it but our positive overweight our negative. You people should respect God and stop insulting everybody just bcos you have access to internet and you can type whatever you want. You post wasn't meant to help me but to pass unfair insult on me. A Nigerian student (Emmanuel Ohuabunwa, 22)recently broke all academic records at John Hopkins University and A Nigerian woman (Bunmi Awoniyi, 48) was appointed to the Sacramento County Superior Court in California why don't you talk about that why talk about fraud. Lets be positive in life and that's how America can keep moving up, negative minded people will sink America.

In US Immigration there are 4 levels regarding fraud:

Low

Medium

High

Lagos

Now I know why you told me to go consult a legal firm for something everyone here except said its no problem. Out of many Questions you said can be raised you are so confused to mention one. There are 2 Lagos in the world. Lagos, Nigeria and Lagos, Portugal. US immigration can't be that stupid and say just Lagos. I'm actually not from Lagos, Lagos is just one state out of 36 in Nigeria. If Lagos is the last level, why is Nigeria still being offered to play GC lottery.

I'm here to learn but you're here to make fun of people, people like you gives America a bad name. Quit doing that and be sensitive to people's need. If you cant help don't reply. I'm not here to read about Nigerian i knoe about my country than you do. i'm a Nigerian-American not only a Nigerian.

Why can't we be civil and respect people's feeling.

The comment was made by a very well respected immigration lawyer.

I have no claim to authorship.

That is one factor, I saw others.

For people unfamiliar with the process and who have issues an initial consult with a Lawyer is always a good idea even if they then DIY.

Boiler is correct in this one- it is not HIS claim that Nigeria is high fraud, or that you are a fraud, but that because of previous fraud from that country, you will face an uphill battle to get a visa. Whereas people from the UK interviewing in London may need a little evidence, Lagos requires a whole lot. The reason Lagos is used instead of Nigeria is because the US embassy in Nigeria who does most visa interviews is located there.

The DV lottery has nothing to do with fraud, it depends on the % of immigrants to the USA which are from that country.

I dont see any complication file i-130 and case should be straight forward.

Yes your new marriage was within 2 months of the divorce but you can show the same evidence you showed to judge that you been seperated since 2008.

Immigration might want to see some evidence how you got into another relation this quickly... but it should not be a problem.

Yes, I have evidence. I've been separated from my ex since 2008 and it showed on the dicorce filling documents as well. Started dating my wife in 2009

As the OP has clearly stated his wife is British and will go through the embassy in London. He is originally from Nigeria but is now a USC. Nigeria will not come into it at all. He has joined VJ as we all did to get help with the immigration process. For some reason it seems that some people are trying to scare him and make him think he is in for a tough ride. There appears to be no indication he is doing anything wrong in fact he seems to be trying hard to do everything right so I don't get why he is getting a hard time.

Lots of people who separate don't get divorced straight away because there is no immediate need to do so but then they meet someone and wish to remarry so suddenly divorce is important and done just in time to remarry. This is in no way unusual and is certainly not an indication of fraud.

To the OP welcome to VJ and I hope your immigration journey is a smooth one and you find that generally people on here are much more helpful than you've encountered so far. You should check the UK forum on here.

I've read all the posts. But here's my comment. Just file I-130 for CR1 application. I don't see any problems of marrying again since you have stated that you can re-marry after 24 hours of your divorce date. Good luck :]

I am glad you replied to all of this nonsense. Yes Nigeria has its problems, but so do we, plenty of them. How many of the people giving their ignorant comments have been to Nigeria? There are 162 million people in Nigeria, that is one in every six and a half Africans. There are good people mixed in there with all these fraudsters that the country is know for, rightly or wrongly so. Keep that in mind next time you meet a Nigerian.
