Traveling with I-751 Receipt only~

Hi All,

Any help/advice would be much appreciated! I'm an October 2012 I-751 filer! I received my I-751 receipt/extension letter and have done my biometrics on Novemver 27th 2012...I have the stamped letter that shows I attended this appointment too...

Now I'm traveling to England THIS friday December 14th for the holidays...returning to NYC January 2nd 2013...my current greencard expires Dec 30th 2012...when I re-enter the States is my receipt/extension letter enough to satisfy immigration or do I need to produce the EXPIRED GC too? This might be a problem as I seem to have misplaced it! ARGH! Nightmare, I know! I do have a copy of my soon to be expired GC front and back...but will a copy and my receipt/extension (and obviously my passport from UK!) be OK??? I feel like it's a little last minute to be able to apply for anything on this side....or is there somethign I can do from the UK at the US Embassy in London?? I would rather avoid this if possible with it being the holidays...and I'm from the north so hauling to London might be a pain!!

Soooo is my UK passport, copy of GC and my extension letter going to be sufficient? Or do we think this is going to be an issue! I feel like if they type in my # and info etc they will see I'm legit...I'm just a little nervous I will get a hard time! Sorry to ramble...any comments would be mch appreciated!

Hope you all have HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :D

But I only have a COPY (front and back) of my expired GC...not the card itself! Trust me I'm turning the house upside down hoping to find the actual card...but if not? Do you think the letter and a copy would suffice?

I would NOT go without the actual greencard (expired or not) in hand. You could have major problems re-entering the country if you only have two pieces of paper acknowledging your legal status...especially if one is just a copy.

Sorry, my bad for just skimming through the post instead of reading.

Yes, you need a Green Card (physical card) with you.

If you can't find it, make an InfoPass appointment, or drop into your local office if you can't get an appointment, bring all your documents and copies, and see if they can give you a stamp until you've replaced the GC.

That's actually quite a good suggestion. You should try that!

Not sure how it would turn out, but worth a shot.
