Because of the requirement to prove that no US citizen is available for the job it is sometimes better to look in less desireable locations. ( Such as middle of no where town in the snow belt )

H1 is the visa in question so not applicable.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thank you guys, really.

A little distraught at the fact that I could lose the love of my life over this (she has to leave in March 2013 as her visa runs out here). She'll be leaving to start an internship in June.

Everything is so up in the air for me right now so I'm trying to gather as much information as I can.

Thanks.

there is an option for you, which is the investor visa. EB-5.

Or just do old good marriage - which is again the easiest and only correct way to do that. OP - keep in mind H-1B has "temporary in its name". No idea why you want to use that as substitute of a green card which it my any means is not.

Hah, thanks man.

However I haven't $1M in the bank.

Another fine idea out the window.

Marriage may be your only option to live and work in the US. Nothing else will get you a visa with work authorization in 2013.

Sorry. Or congratulations????

Best if luck to you.

Marriage is not an option.

It was and we were excited and happy about it.

But it has fallen through due to in-laws being over-protective of their 'investment' so we've been forced to put our engagement on hold.

An H1-B visa as I see it is my only other option apart form marriage, it would allow me to be in the country, earning a living long enough for the in-laws to change their mind about me.

Understand. Just don't see statement on difficulty in getting work visa keeping you away from love of you life being warranted here. There are options for people that want to be with people they love. Work on your future in-laws or convince your future wife to make a decision.

Not from what you have said.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
