This is grounds for optimism, but not celebration. What is a welcome political trend for libertarian kings and bishops, will be a hot ticket to federal-pound-me-in-the-a s s-prison for a number of tragic libertarian pawns.

The fact is, some people - people who've never heard of the Supremacy Clause, people with naive faith in a just world - are going to run out and boldly take advantage of what they believe is a meaningful new freedom. Those kids won't discover the truth until they meet their lawyer, and they may have a hard time following his explanation, what with the sound of a flash-bang still ringing in their ears.

The progress is real and significant, but so will be the casualties.

I think it's about time, lets hope the other 48 states follow suit soon. It is just like prohibition...eventually it will go away. That's the only way to stop the cartels. In Portugal a decade ago they decided to decriminalize all drugs...the result? Drug useage was cut by half.

You have any data or a reliable source to back up that statement? Just wondering..you know.

Based on the premise contained in your statement, we could legalize all criminal acts and reduce the crime rates by 50%. Right???

Google it you will find many links. Here is just one of them that I just found. http://www.disinfo.com/2012/07/ten-years-of-legalization-has-cut-portugals-drug-abuse-rate-in-half/

Also, no that's not what I was saying. When it comes to drugs it's much deeper and more detailed than that plain statement. The best way to deal with drugs is legalize and regulate, just like alcohol(I'm not talking about man made drugs like meth but only drugs that exist naturally). For any politician to decide that they can make something that was put on this earth for our benefit illegal is not only wrong but counterproductive. The drug war has failed, it has caused criminals to be rich and many more dead bodies than there needed to be. It's time to realize that.

Wrong.

It would be 100%.

If you make rape a legal form of sexual intercourse, no such crimes will be committed anymore. None.

If you classify murder as plain deaths (sh*t happens) and take away the criminal element, then the crime rate related to murder would go down by 100%.

Happy life indeed.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
