Hi,

Sorry to for my long post this time but I really want to ask for some help.

I applied for AOS back in July and a few days after I changed the mailing address from San Fransisco to San Jose, our interview scheduled on Oct 12 got cancelled. Ok so our physical address has always been in San Jose but we were thinking of moving w/in this area (actually we bought a house), so we just put the mailing address in SF, which is his parent's address. But then it obviously has become a reason for them to cancel our interview (I guessed it right, they transferred our case from SF to San Jose!)

Besides, we didn't get our EAD after 90 days, so we went to the SF office and asked them what's going on. The nice staff there helped us send an email to the missouri office to urge them to give us the EAD asap. She also helped us check the AOS status and said that it's still pending (but at that moment our case was still in SF office)...

So that's after that they finally 'touched' our case! At last our EAD was approved a few days ago (haven't got it in mail yet). And surprisingly today we got a letter from SAN JOSE office (NOT SAN FRANCISCO!) to ask us to attend an interview on Dec 12, 10:30am. AND THEY'RE GOING TO VIDEIOTAPE OUR INTERVIEW.

So I guessed it right, they transferred our case from SF to San Jose! And not to say that it's their own mistake (they didn't look at it carefully, our physical address has never been in SF). And alsom my feeling is that they doubt about our marriage cuz we changed our address, that's why they want to videotape our interview. Besides, perhaps they're mad cuz suddenly they've one more case to handle (obviously our case was transferred to the San Jose office after our infopass appointment)...

I'm just so worried and nervous about this whole thing now. And my post may be a bit confusing... but what do you think? Can anyone help???

It probably has little correlation, your attempted change of venue (i.e.address) and the announcement of a videotaped interview. Even if as you think this has caused the USCIS to question the validity of your marriage, assemble your evidences to show at the interview, and forget about the filming. The filming doesn't matter ~ your comportment, evidence, accuracy in responding and readiness does.

Thank you very much for your reply.

OK the videotaping interview thing was the 1st thing i saw on the interview letter. It bothered me so much cuz it wasn't on my previous letter from the SF office before (I've to say that the SF letter paper looks much nicer too! Just like a cert! :) )

That's what it says in the letter:

"THIS INTERVIEW WILL BE VIDEO TAPED. "

So you see it's in capital letters, bolded and in the middle of the letter!

And that's why I was shocked and wondered what's going on!

But I wonder if it's the San Jose office's practice now. Cuz I met a girl from this website, she also lives in San Jose area and had the AOS interview already. So this morning I asked her if her interview letter had those words on it. She said those words weren't on her letter but still their interview was videotaped. So now we wondered maybe it's cuz people complaint about the San Jose office didnt tell them about the videotaping thing, so now they added this sentence...

So what do you think?

If you google

"THIS INTERVIEW WILL BE VIDEO TAPED"

you'll see people who have received the same letter, and it doesn't seem to be for any particular reason..... Miami, San Jose, a couple other threads I found so I wouldn't sweat it.

Ours says: "We may record or videotape your interview." I guess that is a standard procedure and is sometimes used, right? I guess for education/training purposes for new officers.

Maybe Sleepy they just want to let you know so that you might wanna wear make-up ;) - I really think it is no big deal. Good luck!

We had to get a second appointment for our AOS interviews (K1 & K2). Our first appointment letter was very official-looking, too, whereas the second one, issued by the local office was not. The second letter also said that our intervew would be videotaped, which had me worried, too. But we just had our interview yesterday and I did not see any evidence that they were videotaping us.

I wouldn't worry about it...

maya62,

Thanks for your reply. I guess I shouldn't worry about it then. Besides, I asked someone who had her interview at San Jose office. She said that although it wasn't printed on their letter that their interview would be videotaped, they did videotape it anyways.
