Ok so I got an RFE and they want proof of citizenship. I guess a passport is not enough. They asked for one of the following:

Certificate of Naturalization

Birth Certificate (Born in US)

US Consular certifying I am a US Citizen

I can't provide any of the that! I was not naturalized, my parents were. If I want to try to get a cert of naturalization it can take up to year, but I don't think I can get one because I was never naturalized. I was born in Jordan, so I don't have a US birth cert. The 3rd option would only apply if I lived in another country!

Has anyone else had this expericane?

How old were you when your parents naturalized? If you were under 18 and in the us as an immigrant you prob automatically naturalized when they did. You shouldnt have any trouble getting a cert of nat, but I dont know how long that takes. Whats wrong with option #3? It seems that if you go to your local office, which you would have to to file the n400 or 600 (not sure but its easy to find out) to get that cert, but if you are there anyway with your parents nat papers and your birth cert and something with your immig status at that time

let us know. i hope this isnt a big hurdle for you.

Dawn & Hatem - 100 Mabrook to you!

I was only 8 when my parents were naturalized, so it was automatic for me. I talked to an immigration officer today who told me it would take about a year to get a naturalization certificate. The problem with option # 3 is that its for US citizens abroad. If I was in Jordan, I could go to the US Embassy and do this.

After a lengthy conversation, the immagration offer who was actually very sympathetic with me told me to write a letter saying that I could not provide anything except the copy of my passport. He also told me to include copies of my parents naturalization certs and my birth cert. and explain how I recieved my status.

I hope it works......

That probably will satisfy the citizenship requirement just fine so don't be suprised if your petition is approved now in the next week or so after they get your letter.
