Your chance of a visa if you do not apply is 0.

If you do something greater than 0, probably.

Most people are told at the time of the interview with the passport mailed back a few days later.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Hello guys. I have been admitted! I've got a B1/B2 visa, but, unfortunately only for 6 months:(. They told me that I cannot get it directly for 10 years, as I have to take it firstly for 6 months, then for 3 years, then for 5 , and just then for 10 years. But anyhow, I am happy I received it, even though Im not quite sure I am going to use it ! Thank you to you all for your support !:)

congratulations!

it is likely due to your circumstances why the VO gave you only a 6 month B1/B2 visa. as long as you don't abuse the one you have right now, it'll increase your chances of getting a much more longer one when you reapply.

Congrats!!!!

In a way, a tourist visa works much like a credit card. You may be given a €200 limit the first year. When you've showed that you pay on time, they may extend it to €500, €1,000 and so forth. As long as you abide by the visa requirements, you should have no problem getting a visa next time either :)

YES TRY TO SAY AS MUCH LESS TIME AS YOU CAN BCZ IT WILL LOOK MORE GENUINE IF UR GOIN THR AS A TOURIST I WENT USA TO ATTEND SOME FUNCTION I TOLD THEM I JUST WANT TO STAY 4 5 DAYS AND I GOT 10 YEAR YEAR VISA AND AT BORDER THEY GIVE ME STAY FOR 6 MONTHS FOR 1 TIME BUT I RETURN BACK IN 10 DAYS :)

Bad advice is bad advice whether it's shouted or not..

no m just sayingg if u say 5 days at interview and stay 10 days tht will not count as liee bcz even i booked my ticket for 10 days and i didnt extend my ticket and i didnt show any ticket at interview nor they ask so its better if u dnt show any ticket at interview n gave roughly idea how long u want to stay so that if u stay bit longer than u actually mention will not create any prb in future .. rest i dnt knw 100 % sure

0789: This is a prime example of why following your advice is a bad idea. If the OP was given a 6 month visa based on a "planned 5 day trip" - And ended up extending his stay after entry for a long time. What do you think will happen in a year when he applies for another visa?

"Oh, you told us 5 days, but stayed for 5 months?" Denied. Not because he did anything illegal per se, but because his credibility is shot.

As a side note: Planning for 5 days, but staying for 10 days isn't a big deal. But case in point, be honest. Don't do anything "smart" because it may help you short term, it will always bite you in the a$$ later.
