My husband and I are living in Singapore and he has his appointment at the Embassy on the 19th for C1 Visa. After it's approved, we were planning on searching for jobs before we move back to the US as this is more wise than moving without one since we have an income here. My question is, since he'll only have an immigrant visa and then a green card once we arrive, is there an issue with companies hiring him before he has his green card in hand? I'm not sure of the procedure. Thanks!

nope. he will come into the POE, get a stamp that will turn his visa into a temporary I-551 document for a year.

He can get SSN in 5 to 15 days, depending on where he POE'd.

He'll be ok..

wei - where's yer favorite curry laksa hawker? I'm hungry, meh.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks Darnell, good to have this information. We figured I might have to find a job first and then he secure one once we have relocated.

Haha there are no limits to hawkers here! Sounds like you've spent some time in Singapore :)

no la - I am asking about YOUR FAVORITE curry laksa hawker.

Mine was at Bukit Timah Lor 23. (or was it Lor 4?)

Yup, was there for a year. SG is great for expat business owners, I miss it, much.

I also turned into a foodie there, chasing down the best hokkien chicken rice and hokkien mee..

ya, ok, in a pinch, get some mee ree bus and I can cope.

I really miss curry laksa. Really, Really.

Haha, usage of the word la and naming locations, yup you definitely lived here :) I'm not a big fan of curry laksa. I'm more obsessed with hor fun myself. Bukit Timah is a bit far from me but there is good food everywhere. I'll miss the inexpensive hawker fare.

I did answer, I said that I don't eat that so I wouldn't be able to tell you where is my preferred curry laksa location. We usually eat at the hawker near our place in Hougang Ave 8.

Each person has their preferences on food :) Yours is curry, mine is Hor fun.
