my wife and I are planning for our anniversary trip to go to the US Virgin Island next July. We are adjusting status and filed in November and i wanted to double check that in July my wife should have her GC and able to travel. Are we going to have any issues when we travel there? its like going from any other US cities i am assuming? i never traveled there so wanted to double check with you guys ....

in the CASE we have any ASO issues or delayed, is my wife able to travel there ? we didn't apply for AP but since USVI are US territories i am assuming thats not considering 'leaving the country'

thanks !

Once she has her green card she can travel internationally. The only qualifier is her country's visa restrictions as she will be traveling with that passport. Until some one else can answer about the Virgin Islands, I would not assume anything if you do not have the AP.

well, my understanding its US territory so its like traveling to another State...so when she has a GC you only show your ID...but would like to confirm that with other VJ members if anyone had experience or advise.

1. You should apply for AP. It's free and the form is simple. You never know when she might need it (I have seen people suddenly need it on this site even, a small sample). You can still apply - Send in a copy with the NOA1 from the I-485.

2. Yes, she can go to USVI. However, from what I understand, it's easy to roam into another country there, or take a little cruise and end up in another country, so it's generally not recommended. Just get the AP and she can go. You will mostly have the GC by then, but if you apply for AP it's basically guaranteed by next summer.

If you search the threads here, a lot of people ask about USVI and you can find explanations from people who have actually been there :)

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
