Non-Immigrant Visa - 5 month wait

Hey there,

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some insight into their personal experiences.

I applied for my visa on July 16th, and was told that I had a 55% chance of approval (which in my mind means, I'll surely get approved) however they have said that I will need to wait 5 months. They kept my passport, and I was happy to wait the 5 months.

Waiting this 5 months has been quite painful for me, however December 16th is exactly 5 months.

I am unsure what the Consular website said with regards to wait times back in July, but as of today it states over a 27 week wait.

Has anyone been through the waiting 5 months, and does it take 5 months or do I still have 2 months to wait?

Any information you can give me, I appreciate very much. I am just worried they have forgotten me :( And this is all very important for me.

You went for a tourist visa interview and they told you it would take 5 months to issue your visa? And they also gave you a percentage chance of it being approved? How very odd. Why did you apply for a tourist visa anyway, and not use the VWP?

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

5 months? Sorry, if you not qualify for ESTA under the VWP, then to 'get a tourist visa' in Australia is a lot of hassle.

And you're learning that, now.

Biometrics - June 2, 2011 (early)
Approval - November 9, 2011
209 DAY TRIP TO REMOVE CONDITIONS

Citizenship

April 29, 2013 - NOA1 for petition received

September 10, 2013 Interview - decision could not be made.

April 15, 2014 APPROVED. Wait for oath ceremony

Waited...

September 29, 2015 - sent letter to senator.

October 16, 2015 - US Citizen

--overstay on esta, needs waiver plus a regular tourist visa application.
