Potentially moving during visa app process.

For someone who is changing their address during the visa process, what should be done? Is there any "change of address" form for applicants, or does one simply have mail forwarded?

Yes, have your mail forwarded. It's helpful if you are clear about such things as being the petitioner but the foreigner doesn't need to submit a change of address to USCIS either. If they move between when you file the petition and when the visa application is submitted, they simply indicate their current address on the "visa application" when submitted. It also helps if you keep in mind that the US Citizen files a petition. Once it's approved, the foreigner applies for a visa, so the "visa application process" begins AFTER the petition is approved.

Sorry about that. Yes, I am the petitioner, who may potentially move during the process. I may move after my lease is up (which is about 5 months after I send in my I-130 package). I think USPS has limits on how long mail can be forwarded for...so what is the recommended course of action for someone in my case? I am sure there are others who have done the same.

Since it's not a K visa, you won't actually need the hard copy of the petition approval notice. If you're registered for email updates, there should be no impact of moving between filing and petition approval. The next time you need to give an address for yourself and for where the immigrant will be living in the USA is when the case is at NVC. It would be best to have a stable address from that time forward to the immigrant's arrival but it isn't critical.

I've been told the mail from USCIS doesn't forward, but since I haven't actually received any I can't confirm that. I submitted the address change for the petitioner and it seemed to go through just fine.

It used to be that USCIS mail could not be forwarded. It can be now, but unfortunately not all letter carriers are aware of this. Don't count on forwarding.

In addition to filing AR-11 for change of address, I called NVC (our file was with NVC by then) and updated them of my new address.

Since it's not a K visa, you won't actually need the hard copy of the petition approval notice.

Just curious, do we need the petition approval notice for cases that are not K visa, say, F2A/IR1 for example? If so, at what point?

Thanks

NO. You only need the petition approval notice for the K visas. Immigrant visa holders don't adjust status. They enter with the status the K visa holders apply for. The K visa holders need the approval notice when applying to adjust status.
