MEDICAL EXAM

Thanks a lot!

If having documents in letter size is necessary, they should put it in their website.

Anyhow, thanks again! Skyflakes, a few candies and a small bottled water will be my "baon". :)

Thank you again! good.gif

I mostly saw people with a small bottle of mineral water and biscuits in their purse. No big bags of chips or anything, try to be inconspicuous.

I think you will be fine with the bruises thing! I have a small bluish spot on my shoulder and the doctor asked what it was and I explained that it was a birthmark and she just nodded. I think they just make you get naked to put notes on your record about tattoos and other distinguishing features. As for the exam, mine was just the regular one - it took maybe 10 minutes. She made me lie on the bed in my birthday suit, pressed my breasts for lumps, took a quick look between my legs (no touching), and that was it.

They still accepted my friend's papers in the end. The whole situation was a rattling, though. It was the first step of the long day ahead and to have the personnel already telling you that your documents are "wrong" that early - it was quite stressful (and that's just to me, a bystander! Thank heavens my friend was able to exhibit grace under pressure). I don't think it's really necessary - the SLEC receptionist was probably just OC and didn't want to file a non-standard paper size. They should have absolutely NO grounds to refuse requirements because of that. If they do, throw a tantrum! Haha

Finished Day 2 today! 900% easier than Day 1!

My receipt had a stamp at the back which told me to report at 9:00 a.m. with my passport and 2 2 x 2 visa photos with my name at the back. I took a cab from the Fort at 8:00 a.m. and arrived there at exactly 9 a.m. (Fare was P230 with tip.) I went to the guard in front of the stairs/beside the entrance and showed him my receipt. He typed my PDS number on his computer and it said "IMMUNIZATION 2ND FLOOR". He confirmed my arrival into the computer, stamped my receipt, and told me to go upstairs.

I handed my receipt to the receptionist on the 2nd floor, sat down, and watered some plants in my Zen Garden. After 20 minutes, they called my name and I went forward to go to the Immunization Room. After 5 minutes, one of the nurses there called my name. She asked the usual questions, then told me I was going to get 2 shots. They were quick and easy - tweezing my eyebrows was more painful. She then told me to go to the ground floor.

I cleared some Roof levels while waiting, and after 15 minutes, was called to Window A. The guy looked at my passport and made me put my signature on some forms (I didn't pay attention to what kind of papers they were - I just blindly scribbled where he put check marks.) Then it was waiting again (surprise!). After 20 minutes I was called to another window. The guy stamped something on my passport and asked for 2 2 x 2 visa photos with my full name at the back. He made me sign a small piece of paper (again, not paying attention). He handed me back my passport, SLMCEC receipt, a DS form with my vaccine information, and a sealed CD. He told me to bring all of those to my interview. I asked, smiling, "That's it?", not believing it was over. He nodded, and scowling, went back to work. I did a little dance Gangnam Style on the floor and took a cab home!

NEXT STOP: VISA INTERVIEW!

I am (usually) the beneficiary.

Wooow! Thanks for that info!

Anyway.. I'm just worried because I called the USEM today and the lady that I spoke with asked me who adviced me to schedule an interview eventhough I didn't have the letter from the embassy saying I am eligible to schedule an appointment. She got me confused about this. She told me its in my discretion if I will pursue my interview on the 26th of December this year and my medical should be 1-2 weeks prior the interview. She also told me that I should wait for the notification from the embassy before making any appointments.. :help:

My question is, should I wait for this notification from the embasyy or proceed with my medical this 17 and 18 and my interview on the 26th?

I'm not a K-1 filer, but I've often read that you don't have to wait for the letter to schedule an interview. A famous guide for the Philippines is from Hank: http://www.visajourn..._1#entry5782374

About the medical, ask SLEC if your results will be ready by your interview date. I am also a bit worried about my planned medical schedule because it's just 7 working days before my interview date (due to the upcoming holidays). I will be calling SLEC too to double check.

That's what I thought also. That its ok to proceed to the next step rather than waiting for the letter from the embassy.. Ok thanks so much for the reply. I'll try to call SLEC tom.. Hope everything will be ok soon.. :)

NO!! For sure don't wait for the letter that never arrives!

They may say that when you call but keep your schedule, do your medical and go to your appointment!

No one gets that letter.... heck my wife is here and still no letter.

Nope, I did not wait for my letter (neither "hard copy" or e-mail) before scheduling my interview. I scheduled my interview over the phone on 12/07/12 and got my NVC confirmation e-mail 5 days later on 12/12/12.

It would be good to get at least an e-mail from the NVC, though (again, no need to wait for it - it's just for your own file/record.) E-mail NVCInquiry@state.gov with your EAC # in the subject of the e-mail, the petitioner's name and birth date and the beneficiary's name and birth date on the body of the e-mail. State that you are inquiring about your MNL #.

I think the reason why they ask for this is that there is a risk that the MNL # you put in your papers may be wrong. People make mistakes - the NVC employee who told you your MNL # may have transposed some digits, or you may have misheard the number that they told you, etc. It would help if they are able to cross-check such an important number with an official document/e-mail.
