Can my Application be affected by a citation?

Dear All,

I got a non-moving vehicular citation from a young police guy. I was driving around the neighborhood at 7pm and had to make a stop at a gas station then moved on from there but I had my parking lights on. I couldn't notice the difference on my dash board because it often appears the same even though it wasn't a full light. I had only driven less than 0.5 mile when this cop who was staying in the middle lane pulled me over and then gave me a ticket for not having my headlight fully on. My question now is:

1. Can this affect my driving records?

2. The ticket don't have any payment(penalty) attached to it, so I don't know what this means?

3. Can I contest this citation somewhere else?

4. Can it affect my filing for ROC in future?

Please kindly express your views if you have ever been in this situation before.

Thanks

1. Yes

2. Just follow the instructions on the document that he gave you. If you still don't understand then call the issuing authority.

3. You can contest it in court if you like. Did you have your lights on? If not why would you contest it?

4. You don't need to include information of traffic violations on your ROC petition unless drugs or alcohol where involved and if there was an actual arrest. If the penalty was $500 or less and or points assesed to your drivers license there is no need to include it. Read page 3 here http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-751instr.pdf

Thanks,

2. I have read the whole paper too many times and don't understand if it's a warning because there is no payment penalty against the violation (non-moving).

3. I had my parking light on but not the full light. I was driving with the parking lights on.

Hello,

If the law enforcement officer gave you a valid ticket, what will you be contesting?

Kind regards,

If you don't understand it then I suggest that you call the issuing department and find out if there is any action required. If it is a warning then there is no penalty.

If you didn't have your lights on what would you be contesting? Parking lights are for when you are parked so that you are visible to other motorists, they are not for driving.

The suggestion to go to driving school makes good sense actually. If points would be assessed for your violation that would be help to mitigate them or make them go away. Get too many tickets and driving school is where you just might end up if you want to keep your license.
