Hey everybody!

I hope this message is good news for all of us! I am checking our case status everyday since we received our I-797 (Received Date: Nov. 19, 2012 ; Notice Date: Nov. 21,2012)

Today, I checked again at USCIS website and I received the same message like yours:

Your Case Status:

Initial Review

Initial Review

On November 27, 2012, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

Question: So instead of the word "Touched" (i've read Touched means someone is reviewing it), are they sending out this message now to let petitioner know that someone is actually reviewing the application?

Thanks :)

Some say it's a sign that they are working on your case and that you'll be approved soon, some say it's an error in their system, some say it's a normal step in the process.....who knows. <_<

I think they mean you have been assigned your A#, it hasn't been changed.

Good luck!

Oh well. It sure stirred me up for a bit.

(Still crossing my fingers though. ;))

Hi you guys. My fiance and I are September filers, NOA1 Oct 2nd, and we got the same message today, saying the alien registration number changed on Oct 9th. We are now on the initial review! :D (or at least that's what the system says) I understand during this stage what they do is a background research and they make sure we have the right papers in our I129F package. If we got our NOA2 soon it would be awesome! however, I'm trying to not get over excited, just in case the waiting continues.

Alien registration number changed = someone touched your papers. That's really all it means. The waiting time for Vermont is still 6 months, so expect to get your NOA2 6 months after September.... around February....

From what I've heard.... it is POSSIBLE to travel to US while waiting for a K1 visa, but............ it's possible that they won't let you enter...... because they know that you're trying to move here and stay here. So you have to PROVE to them that you plan on going back. That means you have to take barely anything with you. And you have to show them proof that you have things back home to go back to (a house, a job....)

I actually called the state department (or whatever it's called) about this and asked them if it's possible for my fiancee in Russia to get a tourist visa to visit me while we're waiting for the K1. They just told me "NO." I called USCIS about this and they also told me "NO."

....... So I don't know......

I received the same notice only 4 days after NOA-1. I would guess that based on the sudden increase in people getting this message, and it being across varying NOA-1 dates many of them very recent, that it doesn't indicate an imminent NOA-2. More likely they just touched it. But any progress is progress, and I wouldn't be adverse to a Christmas miracle either. This IS the government we're talking about though... lol
