Applying for AOS

Hi there,

I got married, but I didn't change my last name yet. Is it fine to use my current last name on the form after marriage or am I suppose to change my last name to my husband's last name before filing for AOS?

If you intend to use your married name in the future, file AOS in your married name. Also, change the name on your SS card.

How can I change my name? Do I need to prove the name change when I apply for AOS or just put my husband's last name when I apply for his AOS? I hope what I am asking is clear.

You just apply in your new name.You need to include your marriage certificate in your AOS package anyway.

To change name on SS card, go to SSA office with your old card and marriage certificate. They will send you a new card with your married name on it.

You don't have to do anything to change your name. Your marriage certificate is your proof of name change. If you intend to take your husband's name, just start using it. You will need to update banks, your SSN card etc, you use your marriage certificate to do that.
