******URGENT*****Interview @ FRESNO CA office cancelled.

I was scheduled to go for an interview on the 19th of December at the Fresno CA office but received a notice in the mail today that the interview have been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. Below is the text of the letter.

"This is to advise you that due to unforseen circumstances, we have canceled the previously scheduled interview on 12/19/2012 @ 10am for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. You will be notified of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under seperate notice."

I tracked my application online to see if there is any update but nothing has changed. The last update which is still on there is the one which says my interview is scheduled for Dec. 19. I am so confused and so afraid. Do you guys think this is normal? Is something wrong with my application? I seriously don't know what to do. I need advise and suggestions please.

Probably just the officer who is familiar with your file and had been scheduled for your interview has had to take time off at short notice or something like that. Don't panic, just sit tight and wait for further instructions from USCIS. Do you have your EAD/AP already?

Thanks for your words, I have the EAD /AP card already. I was to travel outside the country as I already got a ticket but had to cancel because of the interview. Now, my plans, schedules are messed up. And only God knows when I will be hearing from them again.

Go to your interview anyway! LOTS of cases here where people receive that notice but the local office doesn't get the message and people get denied for not showing up.

Thank you....That was what came to my mind too. I have read similar stories in the past when the applicants were denied 'cos they didn't show up. Like you suggested, I won't sit down here thinking all is right. I will just go for the interview on that day hoping something positive happens.

Yeah! Go! If anything they will tell you to come back another day.

That's better than not showing up and getting bad news afterwards!

Thank you all for your kind response/advice. I called USCIS this morning to complain to them about the letter I received. They did not even know what I was saying as per the second mail I received. I was transferred to about 3 supervisors and the last one finally told me that they don't know about the cancellation and that prolly my local office would be so busy on the said date and had no choice to cancel.

I now explained to him about my plans to initially travel but had to cancel my trip because the interview. She said I could go for the interview on the said date and might be lucky to get interviewed, and if not use that opportunity to talk to them and to let them know how soon I want to be interviewed. I just hope I meet a nice and God-sent officer next week when I go there. Thank you all for your advice.
