Hi,

My friend has a criminal record from an 18 month (served 9) jail sentence for possession of a false id document in 2008 he was young and stupid and didn't seem to realise actions had consequences at this time. Since he has left prison and we have got back in touch (i refused to have anything to do with him until he sorted himself out) he has gotten a good job settled down and tried his best to put the past behind him.

I would like to visit the US for a 2 week holiday my question is even if he waited 10 years is he ever likely to get a visa for a 2 week holiday with that type of conviction? He is quite willing to apply for the visa hold his hands up and say he has done this crime etc but i am wondering if he is going to struggle to ever get a visa let alone only 4 years after his conviction.

If anyone has any input i would be very grateful.

It doesn't look too good for him. He will probably be denied entry.

I've highlighted what I believe to be his situation in the following attachment, but you can read the above link for yourself.
