I'm not familiar with how unions work in Germany. I'll have to read up on that. My guess is the unions work much differently there than UAW here, but I don't honestly know.

Just because I don't agree with something, doesn't mean I've lost faith in America. Frankly, you suggesting that is pretty un-American on your part.

Unions in Germany work no different than unions here. Don't buy into this bullshite that the plutocrats are selling you about how all this is the unions fault. It isn't. Plain and simple. You can have globally competitive industries manufacturing goods in developed countries and selling it to the rest of the world. It's very possible and it is done.

What's un-American is to accept the plutocratic propaganda without even beginning to look around and ask questions.

I'm basing my opinions directly from what I have seen growing up and working for awhile in Michigan, with a union and without a union. I found it odd that people were paid more based on their time at a particular job rather than their performance. My grandfather was union all the way. He didn't even look who was on the ballot. He voted straight Democrat every election, didn't matter who it was. He worked for Michigan Bell for 36 years. My grandmother never worked a job, ever. Hell she never learned how to drive. My grandfather did more for me than both my parents combined. In my mind he was an awesome man.

I'll leave it at that I guess. I'm not gonna bad mouth him here.

Sorry, no they're not. They're federally mandated labor laws.

Perhaps you are talking about only the manufacturing industry. But, they get around these laws by hiring temp workers - no forty hours, no benefits!

I worked for the State of North Carolina as a teacher. We all had to take a pay cut. North Carolina was 48th for pay for teachers in the nation. Not much to cut from.

NIce speech. No based on any kind of facts whatsoever, but a good speech nonetheless.

I like how she brought up Indiana and how it is failing there. The legislation was signed in February of this year in Indiana, yet she brings up stats from 2010. You can see her bring that up at 4:29 of the video.

Yes, you can appreciate it every time you visit the repair shop to see how many more weeks it will sit there waiting for parts. I rather have something I can drive.

I've had that issue once with an Audi I owned back in TN. There was literally one dealer and shop that would do work on the car. Hated that part. Hated it even more because these "factory trained technicians" were a bunch of dildos that couldn't figure out a fairly simply problem the car had. I figured that out for them by contacting the factory in Ingolstadt my damn self. So yes, service around these cars is lacking in the US.

She said Indiana is a bad role model because Indiana is already ranked low and got even lower with their current governor. That is what she was giving statistics on, then she said there is no reason to think that it was going to get better under right to work. She wasn't saying that right to work was what caused their already bad ranking.

Working hard to make Indiana look badThe tortured, uphill case for ‘right-to-work’

As Indiana works to rebuild its economy following the Great Recession, some advocates are promoting the idea that the state’s future hinges on adoption of a so-called “right-to-work” (RTW) law. Despite the name, right-to-work laws do not confer any sort of right to a job. Rather, they dilute union bargaining strength by making it harder for workers’ organizations to sustain themselves financially.1 Proponents argue that by weakening labor laws, RTW will lure outside companies—particularly manufacturers—into the state...

Ok so she thinks the governor of Indiana sucks. What does that have to do with RTW? How can she know that RTW is going to cause things to get worse or stay the same when the thing was just passed months ago in Indiana?

The article I posted is a study about many right to work states that had already instituted it.

Interesting read. Thanks for sharing. Don't understand how so many middle class Americans fall for the cheap RTW propaganda while losing ground each and every year that unions are weakened. It's not hard to figure out that as labor gets less organized, workers get more shafted. It's about as simple as adding one and one.
