Hi,

My fiancee took her CFO seminar yesterday and after the one on one the nun who she said was very nice to her told her she needs to take he interview and then bring back the visa and they will stamp it so she can travel back to the US with me. But she didt get the certificate as the nun explained to her she will get that after she brings back the visa..has anyone else had this happen? I thought it was strange and she was supposed to get the certificate and after she brings her visa in w/ the certificate they would stamp it..the nun told her she had passed and she would recieve the stamp after the interview and brings the visa..anyone have any advice on that?

According to the CFO website, the Guidance and Consuling Certificate is issued at the completion of the session. Please reference my signature below.

Yes she has her passport already..that why i dont understand why the nun said she didnt need to take the seminar agin..just to bring back the visa after the interview and they would stamp it with the sticker so she could fly back to the US with me..i dont know what to think now..if she didnt pass they would have told her right?.her dad also accompanied the seminar with her..what do you think?..is she ok?

Well, at worst case, she should have a receipt for the charge which could be used to verify that she at least attended, but I'm hoping that everything will be OK. You can actually call them to get the story from them. I have called everyone... CFO... PRISM... SLEC... USE... HOTELS... and the whole nine yards because I want the story straight from them to clear up any confusion.

And yes she has the reciept from the seminar so if she passes the interview and we can pick up the visa we will head straight back to the CFO and bring it to the nun..i dont think a nun would lie..that would be a big sin for her right?

i think you should be OK. first time i've seen someone post they give the certificate after the Embassy interview. since she has the passport, ok also. sometimes the DFA asks for copy of the certificate when reason applying for passport is fiance/married to foreign national.

We got her CFO in Cebu also and sure they required it before the passport not. also we need to return to the CFO in cebu after her interview. Looks likes she will be talking a boat there from her city.

hi there...

does she have the certificate of attendance? coz after the seminar, she should have it first then, photocopy it, then proceed to CFo office..then submit one copy of it, together with P400 payment...then they should have give her the "real" certificate together with a receipt..

Its my understanding that you can't get the CFO stamp until you have obtained the visa. But you can go ahead and take the seminar beforehand, just hang onto the receipt and records that you attended, and then goto the CFO office for the stamp once the visa is received.

that's my understanding also. they won't stamp your passport till you have visa in hand.

Original and photocopy of Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Guidance and Counseling Certificate of Attendance.

i heard many get their passport without it by checking tourist, as purpose of travel. my fiance did check immigrant, but they didn't ask for a copy of the CFO Certificate.
