Dear VJ'rs

I just got curious about this recent RFE about beneficiary's Birth Certificate. I'm wondering if any of those people who are recently got approved had submitted their beneficiary's BC? Because according to the guide that we no longer need to send it along with I-130 ..so I didn't  Now this is getting me worried :crying: PLEASE SOMEBODY KINDLY CLARIFY THIS FOR ME IF U CAN..especially those who really got approved for CR1

In my case, I have my husband's BC certified copy in hand, it just that getting an RFE is gonna make this nerve rocking journey even more longer. Hoping that everything will go smooth...yikes I guess I just need to be optimistic and think positive

Was it from a local field office? If so it's not really slowing things down more than a few days. If I get one I have to wait a week or 2 for the bc AFTER I get the money to order it >=[

Hi sorry If I may have panicked here a bit, I had worried to much about not sending it in with my I-130 but came to realize that its not needed till the NVC stage when we get to send the IV packet...sorry for the confusion. I just panic out of nothing..hehe :hehe::wacko::bonk:

KDH: You can't get it expedited? I got mine with next day shipping when I was having to renew my passport this year into my married name. My old birth certificate was short form, but the writing came off on the plastic that the government sent it in so it wasn't valid anymore. That was annoying, but at least I got to order the long form because we needed it anyhow. In BC it was the same price either way, thankfully. Came here in 3 days!

OP: You don't NEED to have it but some cases are giving NOIR or NOID (not regular RFE) for this. I think they're doing it an old school way vs the way it has been done at CSC and VSC. Or maybe this is how they want it now? Who knows.

I'm already short on cash to pay for the normal one.

I wouldn't have extra cash for expediting.

You didn't misunderstand anything.

There are people who are getting the RFE for the BC on I-130 petition stage.

Depends on the country. Denmark doesn't have long form birth certificates. They just have one type.

You can find what is required here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html

@KDH We are lucky that they are free in Denmark. How expensive are the Canadian ones? I think my long form US one was $18? Weirdly enough, the one who sent it to me was the same woman who recorded it 25 years ago!

In Canada it depends on the province. I was born in BC so mine was only $30. Expedited it was $67 total I think but I got it in 3 days. My daughter's was $35 when I ordered it when she was born in Alberta but only $20 to order a copy now. LOL I think in Ontario it's $45. I'm not sure about any other province tho. :) My husband still has his from forever ago. It's a big ol' sheet of paper from Alabama! lol

$35.

They're cheap and easy where I'm from: just go to the health dept and wait around while they make you a new one.

$14 for the first copy and $2 each for each additional copy.

Look at the difference between my form:

http://www.dupagehealth.org/upload/Birth_Certificate_ordering_form_2012_8.5_x_11%5B1%5D.pdf

And my husband's form:

http://www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca/mbs/ssb/forms/ssbforms.nsf/GetAttachDocs/007-11076E~1/$File/11076E.pdf

They need professional references and #######. It's ridiculous.

And I could have 11 birth certificates for the prices of (1) of my husbands.

Yikes! My British passport application asked for something similar. I had to mail the thing to a British family friend, who is a doctor, have her sign it and list her qualifications and endorse my photos.

Oddly, my British consular birth registration and my father's required no ID or reason and only a name and approximate place and date of birth. I haven't even spoken to my biological father in years and they just gave it to me (they didn't ask if I had his permission before anyone goes thinking I did something wrong).

What a pain to just get a birth certificate though. It was so easy in DK, you just order it online and it comes from the local Church (who records all births regardless of denomination) in a day.
