I think using a lawyer or not we have to know as much as we can. I talked to 6 lawyers before picking the one I am using. 4 of them just seemed stupid. Didn't even know where Turkey was. My lawyer filed to bring his own wife here. So I know he has some knowledge of the process. But I still want to know as much as I can. So I can be ready for anything.

Yeah true, it's good to know as much as we can. Our lawyer is very well known in california too he goes on this TV show every week where people call and get advice for free. on an unrelated note I've been to turkey and love Istanbul I do speak turkish as well so maybe that's why I loved it there as much as I did.

Question...while I'm getting my packet together here.

I have over 1000 pages of Facebook chats that her and I have exchanged over the past 6 months. How do I give that to them? Do I print them all out? Do I put it on a CD?

I would pick a couple per month to show that you guys talk regularly and print them. I'm not sure they would do anything with items on a CD or DVD.

Electronic media such as CD's and DVD's will not be viewed. Do not bother placing items on such media for submission.

My appointment to hand them the appeal is tomorrow morning at 9am. Wish me luck.

For those of you interested, I've attached the cover letter, which gives everything I am including in the packet.

Would like to hear your feedback.

If you have time before your appt, just put "pictures" on the cover letter and then put a label with all the pertinent information on the back of each picture. That way the information will be close at hand for the person reviewing your case instead of having to flip back and forth between the picture and the description you put in the cover letter.

Also, do you have passport entry/exit stamps? Those will also help prove that you/your wife exited and entered the countries you visited. What about phone bills/text messages? You could add those as well as any emails you have.

Good Luck! Don't forget to update us when you get back!

I actually did put the description on the pictures, I just figured I would do it on the cover letter, as well.

And neither of us have stamps on our passports for coming in and out of Canada or the US. I don't really pay attention when I go through, but neither one of us have stamps. Do they not stamp when going through the border anymore? The last stamp I have is from 2008.

Do we ask them to stamp from now on?

After one month of patient waiting, our I-130 has been approved! Yep, that's right! The additional evidence I gave them must have done it.

I'm so happy we're past that step.

Yay ! Congratulations ! Whatcha cooking, to celebrate?

The I-130 does not require the beneficiary's birth certificate at all. It's no where in the instructions.

The local offices, IMO, are using rules of adjudication that are either OLD or are somehow hinged on adjustment of status guidelines.

Whew! Thanks for clearing that up. So many people submit the beneficiary's birth certificate that I thought it was required and I missed the boat!

This is a response after a long time, but it puts such heart in me to see that your additional evidence was accepted. That's almost word for word what I have to supply. I too submitted the minimum required documentation because my husband and I thought that submitting additional supporting evidence "should" be done only if your required evidence wasn't strong enough. I also am fearing an RFE or NOID. Did you get a lawyer to help you, or did you just submit the listed documents and the cover sheet?

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.
