I understand OPs query. The Philippines is a high-fraud country, trust is (my opin) the core of a relationship, and nothing is certain. But, it should be noted that doubt can be raised about ANY relationship, not just visa-based marriages.

If you love her, and there haven't been any direct signs of deception, then go for it. If you love her, but there have been deceptive signs, proceed with caution, take your time, see where things go. If you don't really love her and that's what's behind your doubts, run away!

Good luck!

Now there's some common sense!

So, maybe we can take this topic in another direction. What would be the signs of deception that would be red flags for a gold-digger or green-card shopper? I'll start.

1. She asks you how much many you make, or asks what your assets are.

2. You express interest in having children but she is avoiding the subject.

3. She never asks you questions about yourself.

Any others?

#1. and ask for emergency support and/or monthly support

#2. they can pretend they want kids.. they might want kids for real but might not be from you  so this one can be a bit tricky

#3. that's too obvious.. but somepoeple might do it though..

If you can answer "YES" to 3 or more of the following:

1. She gives you "scheduled" call times that exlude anything after 7pm PI time on Friday & Saturday

2. Some guy answered the phone when you called

3. She doesn't remember your anniversary date of having met, become engaged, etc.

4. She sent you a photo, but she's not wearing her engagement ring in the pic

5. You have never spoken to her family

6. She never talks about your time together (places gone, experiences had...reminiscing)

7. You have never seen her naked (in person)

8. She saw you naked and changed the subject

9. If her and her mother's ages combined is less than yours

10. If you don't know how many brothers/sisters she has and she doesn't know how many you have

Some good common sense here.

I'm not sure #9 is a good one though. It's not unual for women in the RP have kids at a very young age. My fiance was born when her mom was 16, so her age plus her mom's is less than mine. I also know couples who are both USC with very big age differenes and happily married Fil-Am couples with age differences bigger then ours, so that doesn't mean much. But I agree its something to consider in the overall picture.

So here's a question for you. Each partner is attracted to the other for various reasons. Of course much of this attraction is what we offer to each other in the form of love and affection. In the case of a USC marrying a non-USC, in many cases the USC also offers his/her partner the opportunity to live in the US and enjoy a more affluent lifestyle. Now some of you are going to say that isn't a part of your relationship, and some of you could be right about that. Some of you are fooling yourselves about that. The truth is that in most cases that is part of what you offer to your fiance(e). So, the question is, how much a part of it is it, 0, 1%, 50%, 99% or 100%?
