Mine was that they said they didn't have our marriage certificate ... It was definately in the package so the somehow misplaced it ... Which seems to happen alot with USCIS ...

good topic i think.

We got ours for only sending the W-2s and not the complete tax return. Now they are asking for either complete tax returns or a return transcript from IRS (which is FREE to obtain...thank God at least one thing is free in this journey) for the most recent tax year.

We sent employer letters but they are asking for them again, so will send new ones to be on the safe side.

I know I can't understand how they can loose things ... I can tell you in the real world this wouldn't be acceptable ... If I ever told my old boss that I had lost paperwork he might give you heck about it the first time but if it became a common occurance then I am pretty sure most people would loose thier jobs ...

I got an RFE for a non-existant I-94.. they wanted proof of my non-immigrant status and I had to write a letter explaining that I don't get an I-94 when I cross the border from Canada. I hope my letter was good enough :( Also, in the same RFE letter, I was asked to re-file the I-864 form since we used I-864EZ and they didn't like that.

we got an RFE for 2 passport photos, which had already been submitted. (i hade even made copies!)

then, because of this stupid long delay we've had in processing, they tried to tell us that we had an RFE for fingerprinting, but we'd already had it done. we were at the office on an infopass appointment, so when i produced the papers, the officer went and looked--lo, and behold--there were our fingerprints.

What you have here are three very good examples of how greencards don't necessarily come quickly.

Something to keep in mind when you're banking on getting a greencard in time to travel or work, rather than filing for interim benefits.

I sent the IRS transcripts, but that wasn't enough, either. My RFE was for a full tax return (with W-2s) and a letter of employment. Send plenty of financial corroboration!

Conditions Removed! Ten-year green card received 6/24/2009. No more USCIS for a very long time.
