What happens after biometrics? Is it usual to not get any updates for nearly a month?

Hello all,

I'm a U.S. Citizen and have petitioned for my wife who was on an F-1 status. We haven't been married too long (married on 9/14/12), but have been dating for over two years now. We love each other and the only reason she decided to stay here was to be with me. So I decided to have her adjust her status before she graduates from grad school next February.

Below is my timeline so far:

10/15/12 - Sent Concurrent I-130 & I-1485 plus I-765 and I-131 (to Chicago)

10/23/12 - Received Text and Email Notice that the application was received

10/29/12 - Received Biometrics Appointment

11/03/12 - Received all Receipt Notices in the mail

11/09/12 - Completed Biometrics

The reason I'm writing this is because it's almost been a month and I was wondering if it was usual to not receive any updates on the case either online or by snail mail. The USCIS online case status check cannot find my case based on the MSC receipt numbers they've given me. Is there anything I should do at this point or should I wait? I'm expecting an RFE eventually because I didn't yet submit the I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record). How long does it usually take for them to send out the RFE after a completed biometrics? Should I be worried that I cannot find my case online?

Thanks for all (future) help.

Best,

Bee

Yes, it's normal. Now you're waiting for an interview or RFE (2-5 months generally). I have been waiting since August/ September.

Have you had your medical? If not you should probably schedule one. I believe you can also send your medical to be matched up with your petition using your reference number but at this point it might be better to wait for the RFE as there isn't a gaurantee it will be matched up at this point.

Thanks Xanax. I meant to thank you a lot earlier, but wanted to update when I actually had something to update. I just checked my status online and now it's up there. So progress. Most of them are initial review and the I-485 is at "Testing and Interview," so I'm guessing I'll get an interview date at any time now. Anyway, Thanks again for relieving my anxiety.
