Hi VJ people!

I just signed up for this site after reading through a lot of helpful information. This site has already helped me to better understand what I've been reading on government sites for the past few months. I'm really glad I found somewhere to talk to other people going through this as I can see it's going to be very challenging.

About us: I'm a U.S. citizen and my fiance is a UK citizen. We are open to whatever will make our lives easier as far as if we get married and live in the U.S. or the U.K.; so far one country doesn't seem to be easier than the other but we're still researching all available options. The more we learn the more our plans change - this week's plan is to get married on a marriage visitor visa in the UK so we can start our spousal visas asap given that they take so long. But, tomorrow the plan could be completely different!

I was thinking about starting a blog about this process - I think people would be shocked to learn how much goes into doing this. The people I have told so far couldn't believe how difficult, expensive, and time-consuming the process is. I can't even imagine going through this if English wasn't my first language and if I didn't have the time to wade through half the freakin' internet reading about how to do this!

Anyway, we hope to befriend some of you! We'll be needing your help, and we'll be looking forward to the day we're finished with our process and we can help others!

Hello,

Welcome to the journey! My husband is the US citizen and we got married in Scotland in March this year after he rec'd his marriage visa. Now we are on the CR1 I-130 route which seems slow and frustrating at times. I know what you mean about people being shocked about the cost/time of this process, sometimes it still shocks me and I believe it really needs to be reformed. But in the mean time my thoughts to you is to do your research and try to keep a cool head!

Good luck with your journey

Welcome! My fiancé and I will be getting married in January and then starting the CR1 process. I also know what you mean about people being surprised about the process! Before I looked into it I just assumed it was relatively easy to get your spouse to live in the same country as you.. turns out it's not at all! I had no idea it entailed months and months of waiting.. :/ Luckily, my fiancé and I live together in Spain, so we dont have to endure this whole process apart.. but I feel bad for all the people who don´t have this option.

I'm the beneficiary.

Welcome from another US/UK couple! We'll be starting the CR-1 process in January, as well. Definitely link your blog if you do end up writing one. :)

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

Hey - Welcome aboard ! Have you two put any serious consideration into moving to Singapore, instead of somewhere in the USA or the UK?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Welcome!

Were another US-UK couple! We were just as surprised with all the time and money put into this process. It can be ridiculous! Luckily for us it has been relatively quick but unfortunately for others it has been a long process :( I have my medical booked for the 21st though and I cant wait to see my fiance again and be back in the US sunshine!
