December 2012 Filers

Our NOA1 date is December 17 routed to NBC. A little worried since I sent off original certified copies of our marriage cert (there isn't really an "original" copy because of the way Japan works) since that was easy than trying to find a photocopier that could copy our certificate. It's a fancy calligraphic version though, so I am worried they might think I've sent them the original.

I received the NOA1 email on Dec 21, still no sign of the hard copy in the mail..should I be worried or call in to ask about it?

No worry about I'm pretty sure you will get it in next business days Our concerned is for the 2nd letter NOA2 that will take couple of weeks to process but still hoping will not take that long it seems that were in the same chapter while were wait within that period think so Good luck to us

Also the time from the NOA1 to the NOA2 is typically measured in months, not weeks. The shortest case to approval that was filed on my priority date so far took more than a month; I'm at 3 months now, and many folks who filed through Vermont are pushing 8 months without any known problems with their case. I'm not trying to be discouraging--I'm trying to be realistic so you can avoid disappointment later. The process is sickeningly long to someone like me who has anxiety disorder. But even I know that if we just be careful and truthful and submit the information we are asked for, we are overwhelmingly likely to be successful. Good luck to you and everyone here.

Cool, I would guess NYC is the last place you would want anything to go, they are usually swamped.

You don't, always.

Some people are notified.

Some people find out through an RFE.

Some never know at all.

I think I check my timeline here even more than i check the USCIS site .... and the predicted dates are gradually moving further and further away. It reminds me of when I was learning to swim and my father kept stepping backwards without me realizing it. My husband keeps laughing at me for checking so often, but I just cant help it!

omg tell me about it I'm doing it too! But for some reason I'm getting happier that they're moving farther away b/c I don't want to pin my hopes on something and then have it not happen! I'd rather have it say to expect approval in April and have it come in Feb than the other way around!

I check both sites. Plus once a week check the number close to mine on the USCIS site. I think the people getting approved in 40 to 60 days give us false hope. I am praying for somewhere between 60 and 90 days (i'm at 43 days now), but I am trying to get ready for a 5 mo wait. But my lawyer still thinks my husband could have his visa in 7 to 9 months from now. I pray he's right!!!
