It just might take a while with the holidays in there. It took me a week to get my hard copy in the mail and I am only 1 day shipping from Chicago. It took my lawyer 2 weeks to get his copy of my NOA1. Just check to see if they cashed your check. If so there is no problem you just need to wait.

You can call the number on the money order receipt. Give them the money order number and asked if it was cashed.

I found this information about the USCIS background process. I just wanted to know the whole background process and then share for those who are unaware of it. My case was "touched" Dec 20. I know we all will get a quick NOA2 response.

The USCIS Background Check Process

Every individual that applies for a U.S. immigration benefit must go through a criminal and national security background check to confirm eligibility. This background check process usually involves three stages. The first and fastest of these is The Interagency Border Inspection System (IBIS) name check. The IBIS is a database that stores the law enforcement information of multiple agencies and the information is usually immediately available.

Once the IBIS name check has been completed, and there are no issues to resolve, the next step is the FBI fingerprint check. This check shows any criminal history within the United States, and results are forwarded to the USCIS within 1-2 days. If the check shows criminal activity, the adjudicator resolves any issues and decides if the applicant is eligible for the benefit sought. Once this step is completed, the applicant undergoes a third background check.

The third stage is the FBI name check which includes administrative, applicant, criminal, personnel, and other types of files. This name check should normally take two weeks, however, the USCIS states that in some cases, issues may take 6 months or more to resolve. This stage of the process is what is leading to several thousand delays in AOS applications.

Most of us were last "touched" around the same time. When our file showed up online. They seem to have entered a large amount of cases to the online database that week.

As for the Finger print checks .. I thought finger prints were not taken till the interview at the embassy and not everyone goes into AP. So I am thinking this process doesn't to apply to all USCIS cases. Maybe it depends what you are filing for.

Two I-130s sent for wife & step-son on 12/12 & delivered to Chicago Lockbox on 12/17.

Received NOA1 text/e-mail confirmation for stepson on 1/3 & hard copy NOA1 on 1/7 (check was also cashed). Still nothing regarding my wife's application and they were in the same packet.

I've noticed most people here receive an NOA1 within a week but it took me 2 1/2 weeks, plus I'm still waiting for my wife's! Does this sound normal?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Everyone was still hung over from New Year's parties.

Maybe they tossed your wife's I-130 because it was close at hand when the clock struck midnight. They'll find it under the crepe paper and glitter sooner or later...
