Well, it DOES help that I'm not working right now and get to sit at home and research the **** out of this process and whine at him to get his butt moving! You'd think he'd be interested in moving quick too since if he doesn't have his visa by August I'll be leaving anyway with our son and the new baby! *sigh* Is it just me or do women just do better with this kind of detailed stuff? (no offense to the guys on here :D)

OH my god, finally a post I can REALLY relate to. I agree that women are just better at this. And my husband was always saying how good he was at paperwork.. and I guess it´s true, I mean he's good at getting it organized and done WELL. He's just not at all good at getting it done FAST (something I´m much better at). It took our marriage certificate three weeks to arrive after the wedding, and in that time I did everything I could (I work and study , so not much free time), translating documents, getting the passport sized photos taken, putting our pictures together in a nice word document with captions.. etc). He did nothing until the marriage certificate arrived, and then took over a week to get everything ready. We only just sent out stuff out yesterday.

I'm the beneficiary.

Not sure about all or most guys but my guy specifically uses THE BEST excuse "I don't know what do to and you're so much better at this stuff than I am!" Really?! He's the USC and I'm the beneficiary. If you were to sit him down now and ask what the next step is, he would have no clue. How annoying! I've got a full time job, part time school and all this paperwork to deal with, I wish I had more time with this.

I'm starting to compile my AOS and IV packets now too.

I´m in the same situation as you. Work and study, and I am the beneficiary. My husband probably has no clue about the next step either. I wish I had more time for this too, would have gotten my I-130 packet sent out a week ago.

I'm the beneficiary.

It has to be something. It does not make any sense to me.

I imagine they go through an initial screening process (where they process the cheques), not that cases are just given in order they come in to certain workers. So if you live together abroad these probably go to one person/group of people, and they go through them pretty quickly because the risk of immigration fraud is much lower. I also imagine if you apply and your spouse lives in a high-fraud country, this goes to people who only deal with high fraud country applications and know what to look for/check through really thoroughly and closely, so it takes much longer. And everyone else probably just gets processed as they come in.

Of course I don't know, but this would make the most sense.

Congrats on the good news Cavemomma!
