My case was transferred on 1/3.

How many days is that?

I think a bit under 56 days.

So, wouldn't necessarily hurt to call and see if you've been transferred to a local office.

Just for peace of mind.

Though, knowing now doesn't really give me any change in feeling.

Meh. /shrug

So I called and I think it was a total waste of my time. The CSR was very nice. The ISO was ok but gave me no info.. She said we were still at the NBC and files stay there and don't get sent to local offices :( I said I read on the USCIS site they did. She said no but let me look. Then again said I was at the NBC. :( HHMMMMMMM

Also.. The CSR said we could now email questions about of I-130's to : NCSN/customerconnect@uscis.dhs.gov

Has anyone tried this? Do you just get a BS reply?

I got a reply about a week after I sent my email. It basically said give us 30 days to process your request.

Dear Mrs. *******:

On behalf of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), thank you for your email, dated January 17, 2013, requesting that USCIS expedite your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. This email has been assigned case # EM113-***.

We understand the concern that caused you to write. USCIS records show that a Service Request was created for your case on January 23, 2013. Please allow 30 days from the date of this email for the USCIS office to process your request.

We trust that this information is helpful.

Sincerely,

National Customer Service Center

jf

I did not get a reply yet to my email about their wonderful CSR who told me to drive to Copenhagen and go to the embassy to get more info about my I-130, that he knew just as much as an ISO, and there was no way to fix the error USCIS made. I'm wondering what their reaction to that will be.

My petition wasn't forwarded on to the local office until this month.

So, yours could very well be there and not forwarded YET.

I understand that. It was the part where she tried telling me that they don't go to the local offices and mine won't go.... that I have a problem with. Because like you said. Your's is at the local office. Maybe if she sounded like she knew what she was talking about. I would feel better about the call.

I honestly think they all get forwarded in time.

I don't think my ISO knew they were forwarded either,

because she instantly asked if my husband was in the US.

She even asked to put me on hold while she looked something up (seemed confused).

I would give it another week or two and try calling again.

And I will clarify ALL by saying I don't know what happens to filed abroad cases.

I have a very strange feeling that they are being told not to tell callers which field office their file is at or whatever. When I called a week ago the ISO was insistent that my case was still at NBC, but since they made an error that would have had them believe we were trying to AOS, I'm thinking I might have gotten a half truth. Why would they keep my file at NBC if they thought we were trying to AOS? :bonk:

Maybe you're right. Because to start with she said she could only tell me if it was approved or not. I said "really? I read you could tell me where it was" She sounded irritated at me and said for me to wait while she checked. Then she started asking me questions about my name, birthday, address ect. Then said it was still where I filed it and it will stay there till its approved. she also added that it has only been 1 month and I need to wait 5 to 6 months .( I wanted to point out it was almost 2 but didn't)

I think that's right too. I had an ISO tell me it was transferred to "the local field office" but when I asked which one that was, he just told me I could enter my zip code in the USCIS website to see which field office was closest to me. I am wondering if that cagey behavior isn't merely an attempt to disguise workload equalization transfers between local offices; not much to worry about, I think, if that's the case.

Question, your timeline says that you were transferred to the field office, how do you get to know that.

Also, I read on the USCIS website that all "Standalone i130s" were being transferred to the field office, does that mean anything that was standalone will be routed to field office.

No, not all standalone I-130s (I-130s filed without a I-485) are actually being transferred to the field offices.

You call, ask to speak to a supervisor who can see your case file, and ask where your case is. There is no guarantee of actually learning where it is though.

When I call, they ask me if I am the "applicant or petitioner". You will not be able to inquire on a case until you actually file one for yourself (as opposed to having the petitioner file one for you). Until the I-130 is approved, you have no recognized status as the spouse of the US citizen. Sorry. :(
