Why do you have to do the I-693? Were her shots not complete when she did her K1 medical? She does not need a new medical if the shots were complete at the time of the K1 medical and it was done less than 12 months ago.

**Edit - most DEFINITELY speak to either the same tax preparer, or another one. You are not legally able to file married when you were married. I think s/he screwed up but luckily you posted here and hopefully now you can get it fixed (or find out exactly what the deal is). Do you have a copy of the taxes? You should have NOTHING that lists you as married, your wife should not be on any of your taxes. She should only be mentioned when you file next year. If he continues to say there's no problem, seek a second opinion, or call/visit the IRS to see what's going on.

On point. Thank you for that very informative post. That is exactly what i'm going to do. And to answer you question, I do have the records (at my house). So if he continues saying there is no problem, I will get a second opinion from another Tax preparer/Account before I call IRS, and then proceed calling them. You can never be too safe. It's a god send to have these helpful forums!

Let me get this straight, if it hasn't been a year yet, and my wife got all her shots. Then I DO NOT need to even worry about filling out an I-693? Not even the 1st part or w/e? Should I send the DS-3025 page with the vacination information if I don't have to send out the I-693?

Ps. The editing time limit is extremely short. TOO short. Which is why I had to post again.

If, and it's a big "IF", my memory serves me right you still have to get DS-3032 transcribed onto I-693. We went to the civil surgeon (there's a list somewhere on the uscis? site for them or whatnot).

If AOS is filed within a year then there's no need for another medical exam, but the shots have to be transcribed (and certified)onto I-693 I believe.

Try reading in the "guides" section about it.

I have read the guide, which is why I was a bit flabbergasted about what Vanessa&Tony posted. It would definately be a bonus if I didn't have to fill out a I-963 form and go to a civil surgeon to have him/her cerftify and and transcribe the vacination info onto the I-693. But oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. I will keep rechecking the guide just to have it sink in. After all, this is the last thing I need to truely complete the AOS packet for my wife and then I'll send it out. Thank you for the info!

if she had all the required vaccinations and they were marked off on the DS-3025 at the time of her medical, then you can skip seeing a civil surgeon for the I-693 and just send a copy of the DS-3025. No, no need to see a civil surgeon to have the DS-3025 transcribed. OP's wife can just send a copy of her DS-3025 in her AOS package, even if the original of the DS-3025 is supposed to be in the envelope that she gave at POE.

I believe I read something about people sending DS-3032 straight up, without being transcribed (AOS was 2 years ago, I don't remember it all that well), but I don't remember why we did I-693. I think I did it to be thorough and it cost only $40 (I did call around, some doctors wanted as much as $150 for that).

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in

Based on that thread, I guess i'll try my luck and send a copy of DS-3025 in the AOS packet. If we get an RFE, I'll just do the darn I-693 lol. Also, how do you guys feel about a plain copy of our marraige certificate instead of a certified copy? Should I risk it or not?

Certified copy is obtained at a clerk's office where your marriage record has been filed.

Your statement was a little ambiguous, so I just thought I'd be Captain Obvious here

For the people jumping the gun and shouting TAX FRAUD!!!!! Quiet down. I have stated that I worded the OP wrong (which I can't edit). I wasn't the one that handled my taxes ( I wouldn't know where to start). I went to a tax preparer, he looked at my two previous taxes. Told me that the guy who filed my previous taxes (another tax preparer) filed them wrong. Do I know ####### he did specifically? No. Do I have the records? Yes. Have I cashed the checks? No. Will I go back to the Tax preparer to double check (just in case) since some people here have expressed concern the APPROPIATE way? Yes. Most likely sometime next week i'll be able to make the appointment. Would I purposely do anything stupid to jeopardize my wife's AOS? No. Do the checks amount to more than 2k? No. Am I trying to go behind my wife's back to cash a few extra bucks? LMAO ridiculous since they are signed by both. Have I gotten some important feed back from good people on this thread? Yes. I had no Idea my wife could get a state ID/Drivers Licence. I have everything prepared to go with her tomorrow morning to get her state ID. hopefully we don't have a problem seeing as other people who aren't Residents (yet) on this thread have recieved their state ID or opened up bank accounts. Will I now try to open a jointly account with a different bank regardless of the issue with the checks? Yes. I had no Idea banks allowed it. The two tellers I spoke to are obviously ignorant so i'll be speaking with manager.

If you have any more negative and presumptious things to say, go ahead and post it, I'll respond in kind. If You have any more helpful information, please post it because every bit of information helps me and others alike. - Cheers!

I was not trying to make a negative comment. I was merely stating how the issue with your taxes might look to USCIS. Does it look like fraud? Yes. Was I accusing you of it? No. You were not very clear with your comments. Anyways, good luck with your journey.

No you don't need a transcription if your shots are complete. the transcription is only if you require more shots.

Back "in the day" you'd get them transcribed just to be safe, but with the way the form is written now, the CS's (civil surgeon's) are telling people they need an entire new medical, which isn't true.

What Jay-Kay said :) I'd look into CS's in your area though for cost (and wait time) so that IF you get an RFE you know which one to go to and aren't chasing your tails.

Regular photocopy is all that's required, black and white is fine (mine even came up with a watermark saying "copy" all over it once photocopied). I only have one certified copy from the clerk and I've only ever needed the one for banks etc. I'm not paying the ridiculous fee (I forget what it is but I was shocked) to get something I don't need.

Thanks for chiming in. In my state (at a time) the original marriage certificate was not considered an official document (more like something you frame) so we had to get certified copy for everything and it wasn't that expensive at a time ($15/each) so we sent one of those with AOS. Now it's coming back to me that it wasn't required... but I remember, when I was getting ####### for AOS together, reading that the copy had to be of a certified marriage certificate, not the original... again, might be just the state thing, I dunno, I might be talking out of my a$$ at this point so I'll let more knowledgeable people guide the OP yes.gif
