Hello.

I came to the USA in September to visit my boyfriend, I came with a Canadian passport but my passport got stamped because I think the officers feared that I'd stay here to live since I came to see my boyfriend. They only gave me to the 30th of September because my return date of my flight was the 27th but I wanted to stay longer so I applied for an extention while in the USA which is currently pending. I applied to change my visitor visa into a student one but I am feeling homesick since the holidays are coming and would like to see my family. I was wondering how much problem would it be for me to leave the USA with my visa expired even though my extention process is pending. And how much would it affect me coming into the USA in the future? I wouldn't mind if it took me a couple months to be able to re entry but my family and I do travel a lot and sometimes we have to go through the USA so I don't want it to affect that too much. My boyfriend can visit me in Canada instead for a while so I am not worried about that I just want to know if they will give me too much trouble while exiting the country

Yes you can leave the country that should not be a problem at all, they are not going to question you why you overstayed or what is the status of the extension request.

The only thing that you have might work against you is – you might have difficult time to get another entry in next few months, as next time you try to enter as tourist they know you have BF and you have applied for F1.

These 2 things can have some negative impact… again it can the decision would be upto the officer at POE.
