I'm Kat (Boston, MA), my boyfriend is Tom (Exeter, UK), and we're just beginning the long journey towards closing the distance between us permanently.

He just visited me here on the east coast, and our next time together is scheduled for March in the UK. We're planning to get engaged at that time and then marry next time he's in the US, probably summer of 2013. We're not sure yet who will immigrate where in the end, but I found this site as part of the early research I've been doing and felt like it would be a great resource to help us along our way. I think everyone in this situation can use all the support we can get, and I know I've got loads of reading to do before we can make an informed decision (and hopefully then get through the visa process with minimal battle scars!). I'm glad this community exists. Tom and I are lucky because everyone in our lives supports us, but there's still nothing quite like having people around who can really empathize, is there? Knowing what we're all going through, I can't help but send my love and best wishes to all of you. So! I'm happy to be here, and it's time to get studying :) Hope everyone's having a good week!
