Hi everyone, im just so happy i finally found somewhere n some people that have "smilar" situation!

and i just dont know what to do right now.

I am a senior student studying in university in taiwan(i will finish my school in 6 mth). My fiance has been stationed in kadena airbase in okinawa for 3 years..(he will leave in 2014) we have been doing the long distance for 2 years. and we are trying to get married in 3 months.

and i dont know if i can just travel to okinawa without any document then just get married? i mean can i do it without K-1 fiance visa? cuz currently i can go to japan as a tourist without any visa.

and can we file the applications for green card when im still in taiwan studying n he is over there in oki working?

There are people on this site that know more than me, but it looks like your best option would be get married and then have the USC file an I-130 petition so you can apply for a CR-1 visa. This will allow you to enter the US as an immigrant and get your green card upon POE entering the US. Check out the guides on this site.

I don't know about what is needed for getting married in okinawa, but someone should be along to answer that question.

Good luck!

I would make sure that he knows what is needed on his end. I'm getting married in the Philippines and I'm stateside (US) and it seems if you're overseas it's a more in depth process. Just make sure everything is covered on his end, don't want to risk him getting his clearance taken away or anything of that sort. By the way I'm active duty Air Force as well.

He said he talked to the legal office, they need birth certificate(which in taiwan is household registration), proof of being single and passport, both in english and japanese.

We seem to have to go to the local city hall instead of going on base to get married.

and even the IR1/CR1 spouse visa needs to be issued in japan...

thats why im concerned about if i can file the visa while we are in different places.

and thats good to know,Gonzosan! My boo fixes jet engines!

He also needs the approval of his commander, if he wants to marry a forgein overseas. Don't forget that, it's really important!

I almost forgot about that. I'm not active duty anymore, so I don't anyone's approval!! Well, just the USCIS and the Deparment of State if I want to live with her in the US, but you know...
