Update on DHL/Loomis Opening Our Sealed Envelope

Well, the package was received by Montreal on November 26th. And there it sits. DOS can't tell me anything. They only have updates stating the visa was issued. Well, I know that.

So because they have not replied to any of my emails that I send daily, I contacted my congressman yesterday. They are going to be looking into it and hopefully coming up with something. The worst part of waiting, is that it wasn't even our fault in the first place. I am just hoping it is soon.

If anyone has any phone numbers I can try to get a hold of someone at Montreal, that would be great. But I have tried all numbers, emergency everything. I went as far as contacting border patrol when all this happened. So frustrating.

POE is supposed to be in 26 days. With the holiday coming up, time is running out for any hopes of me having my fiance here for New Years Eve.

Prayers, positive thoughts are welcome! Thank you! :bonk::crying:

Personally, I think you should keep on the immigration liaison in your congressman's office. We had to use my hubby's and she worked wonders. It was done pretty quickly too.

Good luck with everything, hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

i agree with sweetcheeksss..my immigration liaison was the only link i had to the consulate for what seemed like the longest month of my life in 2010. try to stay positive (people saying that to me never helped me be less stressed but, what else can you do?!)

People make mistakes--sucks when it affects you of course. I hope the delivery guy does the right thing and apologizes! If it were me (we are all different,lol) and he apologizes and is sincere I drop it--but no apology--I get back on the fun and start raising hell,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Unfortunately this mistake was inexcusable. It's a government envelope clearly marked do not open, DHL had no right to open it or any package. I'm just glad Amberlynn's fiance didn't have to wait horribly long to get it back.

Who knows how it was opened--maybe it was torn--or he meant to open another envelope and mistakenly opened this one. As I recall, he left a note and fessed up to it, so prob was not on purpose!

It was a mistake. But still. Frustrating and caused a bunch of headache, heartache, time and money. But it is fixed now. We have the paperwork. Now we just focus on POE and getting married. :)

But the envelope was opened by negligance. He was slicing through the big cardboard envelope that the file and passport come in. Either way, he shouldn't have been opening it...any of it, at all.
