That's been my opinion all along, but I have never been above a little light ribbing for everyone's pleasure. Personally, I wouldn't like to be in a relationship with a man 30+ years older than I am (though I guess those AARP benefits have some value), nor would I have liked to when I was in my early 20's. When I was 20, my roommate set me up with her boyfriend's friend, who was veryvery old (in my eyes) at the age of 30. He was a nice guy but I couldn't get over the 10-year gap. But that's me, and my preferences. As long as everyone is happy, I don't really care.

Completely true. I at least got to live in the drabness of Bad Old Blighty with my foreign purchases before flying back home with one of them, so at least I didn't see them through a margarita haze.

Thanks, but I'm sticking with the BF. I don't like 'em younger (I'm only perigeriatric, not yet old enough to really have my cougar claws out) because I have zero to talk to about with them. There's a very sweet and smart 22-year-old boy who works in my office, who reminds me daily why -- for me -- youth is nice for display but not for every day. Very pretty but not enough life experience to make them attractive to me.

The BF is just 1000% awesomeness in every regard. He's even man enough to be coming home with me in three weeks for Christmas to meet the parents. By submissive I meant non-aggressive - not the sex toy thing. I met one in Wales once - a senior nurse. We sat up and talked all night non stop until until 6am and it came light - so compatible. But she was so ditsy with money and when it came out what she owed and how irresponsible she was, it scared me off.

Excellent observation. Many cultures are non-confrontational, especially as between men and women. Educated and intelligent people do not have to stand behind a false sense of bravado, when they have confidence in their own beliefs and ideas.

Can you imagine that a red headed American woman who is highly educated and who holds a good job and is 'driven' in her career might come over as somewhat 'aggressive' ?

I think Americans just come off as aggressive and rude, when seen from the viewpoint of other cultures. Given our physical size, it is easy to come off as intimidating. I was working one place for many years, and got one of my high school buddies a job there for a while. He was a rather large 6'6" and 300 lbs plus. We would occasionally sell travel trailers and tow vehicles to Japanese executives to ship back to Japan on the same ships that brought so many cars to a nearby port in San Francisco Bay. My friend thought it was fun to tower over the five foot orientals in a confined area, and observe their reactions.
