Indian citizens that have Canadian Visa --> Want to get US Visa

My sister-in-law and her family are currently in Canada on immigration visa. They are Indian citizens. They will get PR status eventually(this is what I am told). They wanted to know how long it would take to get US visas to come live in the US and work here? Thanks.

Being a PR of Canada offers them no rights or privledges to the US

I should rephrase the question. They want to relocate to the US. They currently have Canadian visas. How would they apply for a US visa? Go back to India to file there?

Yes visas and status's take time and all are different depending on what type of authorization you are looking for. So times will vary depending on the type...

Unless she has a close relative in the U.S. willing to sponsor her or has a unique specialization that would enable her to immigrate through work, it would take forever. Being in Canada does not offer any kind of privilege when it comes to immigrating to the U.S.

Their PR status in Canada has no bearing on the US. If they want to reside in the US they will need to apply for an immigrant visa, under the existing categories, if eligible.

Yes and for Indian citizens applying for say an H1-b that depends on the cap and timing to get that to allow them to work in the US. If they can get a J or an E visa if they qualify, then those are options too. So all depends on what qualifications they have that will allow them to get a visa or status in the US and each one has their own time frames and such...
