Hey there,

My fiance and I have decided to go the K-1 Visa route rather than the CR1/IR1 route-- simply because we're both too pathetic and don't want to wait as long. But no really, we just feel our wedding wouldn't be the same in the back of our minds knowing that we'd only be together for a week and then have to be separated for another 10+ months.

So anyways, at first we were both quite confident with how much "evidence" we have claiming that we're a legitimate relationship and that we've seen each other before. We never thought in a million years that photographic evidence wouldn't be considered primary evidence, but I guess with Photoshop-- things can be tampered with. I've read on the forums that it's important to keep your boarding pass, baggage tags, hotel recepits, ATM withdrawal receipts, etc, etc.

Well, I've kept none of that. The only primary evidence that I DO have would be multiple visa stamps for when I entered the country. We have some pictures for secondary evidence, and even a few videos (never realized how annoying my voice is on video....). We have ticket "itineraries" but I've read that this isn't considered since anyone can "purchase" a ticket, but it's a different story to travel.

We also don't have any engagement ring receipts because it was passed down to us by her grandmother. We have wedding band receipts, but the amount is less than $500 because we're poor college kids haha-- so we're curious to know if they'd even take that seriously.

Also, do we need to prove that she was "at home" during the time I went to visit?

Thanks for reading!

As long as you have met in person within 2 years of filing, you have met one of the requirements. Do you have chat logs? Phone records? I used my airline itinerary that I had saved to my email. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Yeah we have chat logs all the way back to July 2010. I was just reading the RFE pinned post and it seems a lot of people were getting RFE's over not enough primary evidence. Made me worry a bit.

The passport stamps along with the itineraries listing the same dates as the passport stamps plus photos from the time of the visits should be ok. If you can dig up any credit card or bank statements that showed you used your credit/debit cards during the time you were visiting, those can be useful too. You are trying to paint an overall picture of evidence that can be put together to show that you did indeed meet face-to-face within the last 2 years. Ring receipts do not prove anything and an engagement ring is not even a requirement. Videos are not accepted and cannot be used as evidence.

Thanks for your reply! I don't have the official bank statement pages, but I may be able to take a screenshot of my online banking that proves I spent some money down there. Is this equally as acceptable, or do they need the original bank statement?

It should be OK> I don't think, that as a Canadian, you will have too many problems. Check the Canada portal.

Print outs of your online bank statements will work just the same as a copy of a paper version. The passport stamps, itinerary, bank statements showing you spent money while there, plus photos from your visits should be good for proving you met in person.
