Hello Everyone,

I have my interview in Montreal in 2 days. I have read that if you currently live in the US they may return your passport back to you the following afternoon after your interview if you are approved. I am currently legally residing in the US and am wondering if anyone out there has been granted this passport expedite. Any suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks so much :)

You can ask, and they may grant your request...but be prepared for a no. But if you do not ask, answer is already a no.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Thx. I planned on asking. I have a letter from my employer stating they need me there so hopfully o will get it back right away and wont have to miss work..

May work..but in reality--not really Montreals problem. And it may be out of their hands....Hope ur working in the USA legally, and keep in mind some random people do go through more random checks...so just be prepared for the worst. Best of luck.

I work on a yacht which travels in and out of the us frequently so I applied outside of the us so I could travel freely in and out of the us.. I was working before I applied though..

But how are you living legally in the USA---are you on a work Visa--as just because you applied out of the USA--does not mean you can work or live in the USA. Best of luck

There are special cases. For instance, people in the travel and shipping industries need Crewmember Visas. That's probably what the OP has.

Yes it is a foreign flagged yacht so I enter into the us on a B1 visa. All legal...

Just making sure--as your using it as your reason for an expedited return. Be aware that many get the visas back fairly soon via DHL, but some take longer. Best of luck
