Do I Need to wait to hear from embassy for K1 interview?

Hi everyone this site is so informative, I came across while searching on google..pls I have a few questions, m a nigerian and the USCIS approved my K1 visa petition on October 30 and they said its on it way to NVC...NVC already sent it out to the consulate here in Nigeria..I have all documents I'll be need at hand now and I just want to know if I have to wait on the embassy to contact me beofre I go for my medical examination and police report..pls do advise me on what to do..thanks

Send an email to Lagos immediately to enquire about your interview date use LagosIV@state.gov . Put the case number starting with LGs in the subject line . I can almost assure you that your interview is slated for Janauary ,2013. You have a couple of things to put together before that date so hustle. All the best

Ps: It will take them 4-5 working days to respond but they will.

I got my fiancé's interview date 4 days after I sent lagos consulate an email.

Please quickly send e-mail to the embassy right away at lagosIV@state.gov. I guess your interview date is almost approaching. I got the interview date the same day I sent the e-mail to the embassy. My fiancee got her visa last week.
