Even if if wasn't an ambulance, do property rights allow you to boot someone else's car? It may be your land, but it's their car. Booting the car doesn't assert your property rights because instead of freeing up your property, it actually insures that the car won't move. If you wanted to punish the person, you would reasonably have to turn to the police. Having the car towed might be reasonable as it would free your property from their car. But booting it accomplishes nothing but spite.

I'm not saying that the fact that it is an ambulance doesn't make it more egregious, but it is not a requirement.

Some people don't have a clue no matter where they come from, it has nothing to do with immigration. I'm sure any one of us could pull up a similar story about a white person from the good 'ole U S of A. Wait, Mr. Bad_daddy already did: he told the story of smashing out a back window of a car and pointing his gun at some young "pacific islanders" who played their music too loud. Winning!

Maybe you should have taken the time to actually read the OP. The immigrant in the OP claims he doesn't speak English and he doesn't know what an ambulance is. Try working that side of the story instead of trying to change the subject.

more appropriately, they should have charged him with criminal negligence, as he put the life of another person unnecessarily at risk through a wilful action. if the patient had died or suffered extreme impairment, i'd say negligent homicide.

store owners (and everybody else) loose control of property rights when life-threatening circumstances occur, and in case of relation to ALL emergency responders.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I did take the time to read it. I'm just saying he had poor judgment.

I don't believe that he doesn't speak English, he has a job at a convenience store in America, he speaks some English - and they have ambulance's everywhere - I'm sure he knew what it was.

At the very least, vicarious negligence would apply since he was acting as an employee of the company. As long as no one was hurt, I doubt he'll be paying anything but a fine.

Since a reasonable and prudent person would consider special cases (emergency vehicles) when booting, negligence would be easy to prove, IMO. The thing that would be more difficult to prove was damages resulting as a proximate cause of the negligence. Did the person who was receiving treatment suffer more harm from the delay? Can they prove it? Who knows?

I think it should be considered criminal negligence (assuming it added to damages of the person being assisted), too, since it puts lives at risk to impede an ambulance. The question is, would the employer be at fault for hiring the employee and not explaining that government emergency vehicles are not to be booted? If he never explained this to the employee, he might be held responsible, too.
