Hi guys,

I had my interview last Thursday but was not approved. They required a joint sponsor since my wife (US citizen) has been living in Toronto the last four years raising our 2 children and has not worked the last three years. So I submitted a joint sponsor (her brother), new I-864 and his US tax returns. I found it very strange that they totally ignored our Canadian tax returns which was over sufficient capital wise. Anyways I submitted all the documents at Loomis in Brampton last Friday (30 June 2012) along with my passport as per the letter I received after the interview.

According to the waybill tracking number, the package reached the consulate in Montreal today successfully. My question, would anyone know how long it would take them to process and return my passport to the Loomis location in Brampton which I registered at.

Greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,

sunder

Perhaps you mean last friday NOVEMBER 30th? Lol... A little off on your months are you?

They're going to ignore your canadian income because it won't continue into the US.

It shows no proof whatsoever that you can support yourself in the US.

Here's a thread from last December: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/340698-questions-about-processing-times-after-rfe-documents-sent-to-montreal/

I saw on another site where it took 5 weeks to get the passport/visa from Montreal after an RFE.

Hopefully it all runs smoothly for you guys!

What some have done is have the USA spouse contact their congress-person and have them make an inquiry.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I don't think she's having a problem yet, she was just wondering how long the process would take as it just started.

Yes, but in many cases it seems to take quite awhile--so its best to be prepared and di the research before hand--ie how to contact ur congress person. And from others on VJ that have went this route, things all of a sudden seem to pick up speed!! But hey--if one wants to sit back and do nothing--they can do that as well

I think if people are contacting their congressperson over every little thing it is going to carry a lot less weight. It is like the boy who cried wolf.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

I guess one has to write out everything step by step.....Coomon sense should take place and give it within the timeframe the Embassy stated..goes outside that time frame....you can sit back and do nothing..or try and do something about it

Hello every one

Montreal visa process is like baby step. What I did not understand is waiting all this long. when they finish every thing and hand your passport you have to wait again.

however, I have been waiting my waiver 8months. After I got approval early oct, I sent my passport and all what ever they needed to montreal. I am still waiting my passport.

It is been 6weeks now. I emailed and called no respond yet. by the way, every body is different I hope all of us went our process smoothly.

In your situation, I would def have the USA spouse contact his congress-person---you have waited well outside the norms!

So I picked up my passport with the visa yesterday at Loomis Brampton...after opening it, felt like you've won the lottery. It took 10 business days after I resubmitted a joint sponsor as my wife has not worked in the US (we both in Canada). The CO after my interview (Nov 29th) mentioned 15 days so am glad she was being conservative.

One note of advice, they care diddly squat about Canadian income (even if it way high or whatever). If only NVC mentioned to us, we would have sent joint sponsor I-864 along with other documents back then.

Anyway Good Luck to all....Happy Holidays
