Need help getting married in Manila

If he tries and the CC backs it, go see the ADC during your 3 duty days you get for a response. It's BS, nobody can tell you who you can or can't marry. The only thing it could potentially affect is your clearance, but you said the security manager already cleared it.

If I were you I wouldn't answer their emails or calls...just enjoy your leave and don't even think about them. But that's me and I'm past 20 and can retire anytime I want...

Appreciate the advice. I'm thinking the same thing as well. Honestly right now it's a great time to see if all this just passes away. They notified me yesterday and they won't be back at least till Wednesday, and that's if he's working through these past few weeks. The only thing I would be worried about is the clearance, but there's no way they can say anything in that regard because I've cleared it all through them many times over. I think my FS is just pissed I didn't get him more involved. I'm going to go to the US Embassy on the 26th and talk to them, they should know exactly what I need. I'll take the heat when I get back and I'll go to the ADC if they even throw an LOC my way. Tired of putting up with his BS.

Well seems like those two weeks I spent going through hell with my leadership were all for nothing. Today we went to the US Embassy and it took roughly 30 mins to get my Legal Capacity to marry. All they asked was "you're active duty military?" "Yes" "Where are you stationed?", that's all they asked. I signed a paper stating I've never been married and had to raise my right hand and swear/affirm. They didn't ask for anything else. Then we went down to a marriage counselor to apply for our marriage license and all we needed was to fill out an application and her paperwork along with a photocopy of my passport and my legal capacity to marry. I'm sure my First Sergeant is still going to say I need their approval and all that but in fact they have little to nothing to do with it all. Anyways just wanted to share for all those who are going through similar things. It was pretty simple, in fact including travel time it took no more than three hours to get everything done this morning. :)

I told you just go to us embassy and get legal capacity and that's it. Btw bring your orig marriage cert when u come home so you can file it to deers. Then try to expedite the marriage contract to file it to nso coz they said it will take 3-6 months to file it if you didn't process it in your own.. When I get married I came back to municipal after a week and I'm the one brought the cert to nso.. Then I get mine after a month .

Well so now I'm married and I'm wondering what my next step should be. I'm under the impression that I need to wait until we get out marriage certificate before we can proceed with anything else. Is that the case? I'm waiting for the certificate also so that we can start getting a bump in BAH. Is there anything I should be doing now?

If you haven't gotten your wife DEERS yet, make sure you leave the Philippines with your city/town hall certified copy of your marriage certificate. I presume you have the certificate in triplicate or quadruple (quadruplicate? Doesn't sound right haha)... One originally signed copy should be with you.

Tell your new wife that she needs to have the NSO certification expedited. Tell her to ask her town/city hall. :) good luck!

And there are so many silences to be broken.”

Thank you, and no I don't have the marriage certificate yet. Apparently it'll take a month to get it processed and all that. I'll let my wife know about the NSO stuff. Thanks

hope you were able to resolve your dilemma as we are on the same page, everything about the wedding is planned, tickets booked for my fiance and our families for our wedding which is supposed to be next month but just now we learn from his command that we need the background inverstigation and medical because the marriage is taking place in the philippines which falls under tha COMNAVMARIANAS jurisdiction and that approval before marriage is required. He wasn't informed about this earlier now we don't have a clue on what to do next as everythig is scheduled and paid for
