Will we need a Co-sponsor?

Hello,

My American fiancee graduated from university last year and started working at a tech company this March. While she was a student, she still worked- but I am not sure if she was above 125% of the poverty guidelines. To further confound things, I expect my interview will be before April 15... Should my fiancee file her taxes early if so?

Regardless, after reading this forum and seeing how an I-134's evidence often makes use of n years of tax returns on top of pay stubs, offer letter stating salary, etc- I am not sure what to do. It seems kind of silly to have to get a cosponsor for someone employed, but I leave the verdict up to more experienced VJ-ers

Also, as a Canadian I have no idea what Americans do with their tax returns- so I'd love some insight on how one collects them if there is some arcane process for when she invariably asks me "James, how do I get them!" This is assuming that she doesn't have them all in a shoebox at home. Once again, I really have no idea and for that I am sorry.

Thanks in advance,

J

Usually current income is what matters, so if she can prove she is currently employed and make above the required amount, using paystubs and/or a letter from her employer saying the same.

She should be keeping a copy of her tax returns for her records, but if she hasn't, she can order transcripts from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
