ds-230/ interview date

Hi everybody who is reading this post. I would really appreciate an estimate in time period to calm my nerves. I sent my ds-230 to NVC on Saturday December 1,2012. I sent the package express mail. The mail man told me that the package would arrive today, Monday Dec. 3rd. I just would like to know on average how long does NVC take to complete a case and send it to the embassy if everything goes well. And when and by whom is the interview date given. Is it by the NVC when they complete the case. Or is it by the embassy when they receive it... Thanks so much.

I am sure you heard as I did that they need 20 business days to review any documents sent, I have seen here that it takes around 10 business days for them to complete once the DS230 is sent. Once the case is complete NVC schedules the interview, but that depends on the specific embassy, the best you can do is check the timelines and search for your country and see case closed and interview to get a better idea.

I have read a lot and its still not clear to me how the interview scheduling is done, some threads say that the NVC schedules the first two weeks of a month for the following month. But I recently saw someone get a Jan date at the end of Nov, so dont really know what to think.

Good Luck.

Give them two week period until they review and close your case. It took them 14 days to close my case after i sent in Ds230 with all supporting docs. Then it took them another 8-10 days to send me an email of interview date. overall, in 30 days your case will be done and you will be given your interview date. Once you send Ds230 you're done! so relax

Right now about 10 to 14 business days to review than you get Case Complete. From that point on it becomes Country specific when you get your interview. You need to check your forums and ask around. I know DR is a very busy Embassy I have seen most wait about a month.

Say you get Case Complete in the next few weeks you are done by monthend you are in queue for the next months scheduling which is February. But who knows a January appointment may have cancelled and you slide in. So no one can tell really. I would say with holidays coming NVC hopefully is in crunch mode and will be a bit more speedy.

You can filter these things quite nicely here:

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/filterlist.php

If you choose the CR1 and your country (DR) then you can see interview dates and when the NVC received everything as an estimate

If your DS-230 arrives today give it about "20"days for them to review and input the info. onto the system, but if you like you can call after 10 days a to find out status. As far as the interview goes, lately DR seem to have been scheduling interview fairly quickly.

Thanks everyone for the prompt replies.. :) I will wait 10 business days before I start bothering NVC again. I would be expecting my interview date in a month from today with fingers crossed.
