When we sent in the checklist for our interview we thought we had everything, but the police clearance cert for 1 country was only the receipt of clearance application made in August, not the actual clearance itself which we just found out today will not be ready until end of next week. Should we:

1) Reschedule? (The embassy said the next available isn't until January, and my daughter & I have to return to the USA on the 21st of November, so my fiance would need to attend the interview alone)

2) Attend & hope the one police clearance from the Congo and the receipt for the application of the South Africa clearance is good enough to pass?

3) There is a chance the supervisor at the Police Certificate office can speed up the process so we would have the certificate on Monday. Unfortunately, this method is not guarunteed, and results in a change fee for our plane tickets & car hire which would cause a short term heavy economic hardship. Mind you we are traveling with our 8 month old.

I guess what I am really looking for, is how hard is the denial / further evidence needed process to get the visa? Is it just a matter of faxing in a document, or do you need a new interview?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I would think that if you are missing a document they will just put your petition on missing document hold until you can provide it. Claudeth didn't have her German police report translated and that is what they did with us. I would say go ahead and have the interview. Good luck

I agree with jasman...

I have seen other cases like this.. who have gone for their scheduled interview and have submitted the missing papers later on. So, If I were you, I wouldn't think about rescheduling.

Good Luck

You should be fine. In the few mins of interview, the consular is trying to see if you have the proper documents, all your forms are signed etc. Police certificates are low priority items and they are hardly looked it.

They dont have the time to go through police certificate for each place you have lived. The interview is focused on proving your relationship is legit, you have the right financial resources etc. You should probably just hand the police certificate you have and stay quiet and focus on getting pictures and proof or relationship.

We almost had the same issue with our police reports at her interview on Tuesday. The report was in her old married name and not her maiden name. They still gave her the stamp and paperwork - but they will not send the packet until she has a new police report sent to the embassy.
