K1/K2 Now Require DS-230?

The latest K1/K2 instructions from the US Embassy Manila's website says that each applicant must submit one completed copy of Part I of the DS-230. Is that a mistake? Thought the DS-230 is for IMMIGRANT Visas. Can any one validate this if the embassy is indeed looking for this form for K1 and K2 applicants?

Part I of the DS-230 is required. It's just biographic data, so don't sweat, just complete it and take it with you. Don't take a chance of not having it and end up losing your interview!

Good Luck

We completed one and submitted it to the USEM and now we have a valid K-1 in our possession. What is the harm in submitting an extra form if they say submit? If they do not ask for it at the embasssy then you are overprepared. The advice your see most on VJ is to OVER PREPARE.

The K-1 visa is technically considered a non-immigrant visa but is processed as an immigrant visa because the applicant intends to stay in America.

Why would the embassy instructions letter be wrong? Just do as the letter instructs.

They changed the required forms and added the DS-230.

Thanks all. I was just surprised as all the instructions I've downloaded to date did not have the DS-230 as a requirement. Then last night I decided to go over my document package one more time and so I went to USEM site to cross-reference. Whoa!! Why is this DS-230 required now? Guess I just freaked out and needed to confirm. FYI I did complete Part I of the DS-230. Did one for my Fiancee and one for her daughter.

Excellent!

I've updated the link in my list as well. I wish the embassy would use the same link and update the letter there instead of having out-dated versions floating about also.

Couldn't agree more about them using the same link. Feel bad for anyone not getting the latest info about the DS-230 and showing up at the Embassy without it. Their new policy states that applicants will get turned away, albeit able to return before 10AM with all printed DS Forms.

With the embassy not being very quick (as in never) sending out the instructions letter, let alone mailing out the updated requirements I am sure there will be many that don't have the DS-230 at the interview. Folks need to be diligent with checking the USEM website.
