Mumbai Consulate scheduled only 8 CR1 interviews for the month of February, 2013 and whereas they scheduled close to 291 CR1 interviews for the month of March, 2013.

Do you think, they may be clearing all the pending 221g cases in this month (february) to catch up ????????? ----- I wish.

1) As soon they approve your Visa the status on CEAC website will change to "Issued"

2) Then they print and stamp your passport and mail it to you or your pick up location, it takes about 2-3 days to get visa in hand after status changes to Issued.

***NEWS FLASH***

Remember the news about new rule? It was to be implemented for new immigrants as of February 1st of 2013?

Well, my husband picked up his passport and with it, there was a letter from USCIS that stated, he or the petitioner must pay $165 before entering US soil.

Okay, they say that new-immigrant must pay, but since the money has to come from US bank or US Credit Cards, its okay for the petitioner to pay.

Therefore, I have to pay $165 before Monday so my husband can enter USA on Wednesday.

you can pay this fee as you are petitioner, actually you have 1 year to pay, they will not issue actual green card till they get this fee but one can stay in US based on stamp on passport.

When and How to Pay the Fee

Applicants must pay this fee online through the USCIS website. Applicants should submit payments after they receive their visa package from DOS and before they depart for the United States.

Applicants can electronically submit the fee by answering the questions on the USCIS website by providing their:

checking account information, or

debit or credit card information.

All check payments must be drawn on a U.S. bank.

If the applicant is unable to make this payment, another person can make this payment on the applicant’s behalf.

Failure to Pay

The applicant will not receive a green card until the required USCIS Immigrant fee is paid.

Failure to pay does not affect the lawful status of the applicant. While the applicant can use their Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Form I-94, Arrival and Departure Record, for one year to document they are a lawful permanent resident, once that I-94 stamp expires, the applicant will need to possess a green card as evidence of their lawful permanent resident status.

Okay, Good.

Have you paid this fee? Probably not, since your wife came to USA before February 1st, right? Well do you know what this A*** # is? They are asking for it on the form for fee.

They ask of name, DOB, Case ID, Country of Birth and a number starting with "A".

My husband is faxing me the letter he received but was just wondering ahead of time. I will post a new thread for this shortly.

Ha, never mind I found it. on the site it mentions that DOS will send you a letter once you arrive in USA

Immigrant visa holders must submit payments online after they receive their immigrant visa package from DOS. DOS will issue the applicant:

A USCIS handout which will include the immigrant visa holder's Alien number and Case ID number; and

Instructions on how to submit payment.

Payment should be made before traveling to the United States. Immigrant visa holders should keep a copy of their receipt for their records. More details are available at www.USCIS.gov/immigrantfee.
